Clemson 34 SMU 31 (ACC Championship)

Featured Replies

Clemson hits a 56 yard field goal at the buzzer to beat SMU 34-31. A big win for the TIgers!

Not surprised at this at all. As much as some may not like Clemson and Dabo, he’s been there and done it. And I believe SMU belongs in the playoff still.

Either both of these teams deserve to be in the CFP or neither of them does.  If Alabama is in and SMU is out, the whole thing is a sham.  If all expanding does is let undeserving Power conference teams in, then it's no better than an expanded basketball tourney.

I agree. I think deciding who is really deserving and who isn't, is the fly in the ointment.

Take Indiana for instances, they have only one loss...surely they deserve to be in. Really what's their best two wins?

SMU only has two losses and played for the ACC Title, they surely deserve to be in...after watching them tonight I'd say both Ole Miss and South Carolina would be favored over them. Besides, who'd they beat?

ND is 11-1 they deserve to be in! Are we sure, they beat an OK A&M team, a .500 USC team while losing to NIU. I can think of at least two or three actual battle tested teams with three losses that have looked better but will be sitting home.

If we really want the Top 12 teams we should admit  when a gaudy record is a sham and look beyond that.

I think they have the same case as SMU.  ND beat a few decent teams (Army, Louisville, Navy, SoCal, Georgia Tech), not really good, but decent.  But they also ended up having the win total padded by playing a MAC School, and TERRIBLE power 4 teams in Purdue and FSU.  They are in and that's fine, but I wouldn't see a big argument for them if they weren't.
