All-Time: Frederick Douglass 5-0

Last Meeting: Frederick Douglass 21-14

The Indians of Madison Central (7-4) will take the short trip of I-75 to come to "The Farm" to take on the Broncos of Frederick Douglass (8-4) in a regional championship game. This will be the Broncos 6th straight regional championship game. These two played just 5 weeks ago at Richmond in a game that could have gone either way with the Broncos pulling out a 21-14 win.

The Indians are coming off a nice win at Bryan Station 21-19. Madison led 21-7 to see the Defenders come back and block a FG kick with about 2 minutes to play and run it back for a touchdown their 2-point conversion failed and Madison Central recovered the onside kick and was able to run out the clock for the nice win that avenged a 14-10 loss at Bryan Station 2 weeks earlier.

The Broncos found themselves after a flat start of their game vs. GRC that saw them down 14-0 halfway through the first quarter. They then got focused in and scored the next 41 points and ended up defeating the Cardinals 48-20. This is the 6th time the two programs have played with Douglass being 5-0 all time in the series. If the Broncos come into this one the way they did to start the GRC game, they will not be practicing on Thanksgiving again this year. If they come in focused, I think they will prevail.

Douglass 42-14.

Put this game as an **UPSET ALERT** before kickoff. YES, the Broncos got caught looking ahead to playing (who we all thought would be) Male, and trailed a nothing to lose GRC squad 0-14 in the 1st quarter... A GRC team that they had blanked only 3 weeks prior!

Now comes Madison Central, who in the regular season actually lasted with Douglass til the last minute or so of the 4th quarter. Should that game have been that close? I don't think so.

Yet, could Douglass be comfortable being at home, assume they have Central figured out, and come out with another lethargic 1st quarter effort? The way Madison Central can control the time of possession, the host team can ill afford another slow start like last week.

The key to the game is that Douglass must RUN THE BALL. Flat out. Pass when the opportunity presents itself, but minimize the passing turnovers that could flip momentum.

I expect a hard fought 14-7 win, because I believe that the Broncos will still try to pass the ball, instead of keeping it on the ground. We shall see.

Weather will be a factor as cold temperatures (near 40 at kickoff) and wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour are forecast. This will affect all games this Friday evening across the Commonwealth. Rushing attacks may be the way to victory. I like this one to be close. The Indians could spring the big upset this week.

Glicod will also be covering this game.  Madison Central must maximize time of possession to keep Fredrick Douglass big play capabilities off the field.  They have added a wrinkle from time to time on their Winged T offense and the defense must remain disciplined and focused to stop it.  FD is much improved with a healthy playmaker Derion Talbert back in the lineup which makes it harder to provide double coverage on Aveion Chenault and Madison Central must kick away from him as you don't want to attempt to tackles him in the open field.  As mentioned before keep the game close as typically a Winged T offense does not play well coming back off a sizable deficit.  One advantage to Douglass is that they have a lot of experience playing against this type of offense (Scott County in the past and Madison Central earlier this season).  Also as mentioned earlier thy must come out focused and nit get behind early like the GRC game.

Gilcod is not working on my laptop it worked until the Broncos had the ball first and goal at the 4 yard line then quit.

It is working now. The Broncos lead 7-0 early in the 2nd quarter. Madison Central did not have a first down in the opening quarter.

The Broncos score again on a 4 yard run by Tay Tay Allen after a long pass to Chenault after he went up and made a heck of a catch in double coverage. Frederick Douglass now leads Madison Central 14-0 with 7:45 left in the first half.

I have never seen this before. Frederick Douglass had the ball 1st and goal from the Madison Central 7 yard line. Now after two plays it is still first and goal from the Broncos own 32 yard line so it is technically 1st and 68. Also now again the Gilcod feed has went out.

Frederick Douglass 14

Madison Central 0

Halftime

The Indians have yet to get a first down in this game.

Right guard caught two 15 yarders after the run for first, then the  1st down and goal at midfield, had another pair of unsportsmanlike fouls so then it was 2nd and maybe 75 lololololol.
