Pikeville 24 Hazard 6

Featured Replies

24-6 final score is less than I predicted, but as they say "A win is a win". This was an ugly win. Pikeville is not playing like the typical Pikeville team, such as, breaking out of the huddle late, looking confused at times, playing like they're in a fog, no urgency of the game. Play calling seems out of sorts most times. Something needs to be fixed and fixed SOON. They're not playing like the typical Pikeville teams we've seen the past few years of their championship run, and certainly not like a Coach Mac and staff coached team we've seen for years. Give Hazard credit, they played like they wanted the win more than Pikeville. This team has tons of talent for class 1-A, but it's of no benefit if it's not coordinated the way it should be. Get it together Panthers!

Closer than the final score indicates. Congratulations to the Panthers.

Pikeville looks like the best team in 1A to me.

Yes it was. Hazard was driving and got it just inside the 20 with I think with less than a minute left in the 3rd and it was 14-6 game then. Credit the Pikeville Defense for getting the stop. Pikeville then broke a huge play for a Brendan Anthony touchdown to extend the lead 21-6. Hazard got down in the red zone again and was turned away again. Pikeville ended up with a field goal making it 24-6.
Hazard will need to cut down on turnovers in the start of these big games. 2 INTs that lead to 2 Pikeville touchdowns.

They've been my favorite all season and remain so, although they don't appear to be a vintage club. The RPI isn't great and they'll almost assuredly have to win at least one and maybe two road playoff games. If the Panthers are to win the title this season, they will have earned it.

Yes, I think they are, but some things are going to have to be made right if they want to be at Kroger Field.
