Owensboro Red Devils (5-3, 5A #8) | Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons (6-2)

? Speak Of The Devil; Maroons Seek Encore Of Last Year's Upset, This Time At Rash

• The Maroons stunned Owensboro in Madisonville last year as the tandem of Johnson and Hightower made a mockery of the Devils’ defense, with the former accounting for 448 yards total yards and the latter posting 259 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns. They're at it again this year, fueling 5A's highest scoring offense with one of the state's most prolific running games.
• Evan Hampton found running room plentiful against the Maroons that night, rushing and receiving for 100+ yards each. He's knocking on the door of another thousand yard campaign.
• Both sides have posted some curious scores this season: Owensboro narrowly escaped a monumental upset against Marshall County, while M-NH did fall victim to Fort Campbell. And the Devils routed Graves County a week before the Maroons fell flat against the Eagles.

Series History ?: Owensboro leads 55-15-4 all-time | M-NH won 45-38 last year at home

Last year it’s important to note that Madisonville was gifted a late TD that should have been ruled Owensboro ball at the 20.  That said, O played no defense, Winstead was out.  This year who knows - Play CAL tight, OCath tight, get wiped by BG, almost tied or possibly beat by Marshall?  Which Owensboro shows up?  Just line up and play base defense every play???  they could take the Loss.  Have a good defensive plan like SW did against BG - mix it up, play with heart?  Could blow them out.  Who knows?

Ty Ashley - sophomore MLB/QB has offers from UL and EKU.  Leading the team with almost 100 tackles, the young man is a boss.  6-3 200, would be starting almost anywhere at QB - great arm, toughness.  I wish O would give him a lot more chances so he’s ready next year - he’s 5 of 6 on the year QB’ing.  With all due respect to the senior,  most of what I’ve heard is that he should be the starting QB.  Evidently the College coaches see a lot in him.  Congrats to the young man.
