The last time Covington Catholic football played at Thorobred Stadium was on October 18, 2013 when the Colonels made the trip down to Cynthiana and hung a 42-6 loss on Harrison County. Cov Cath was led by quarterback Ben Dressman along with brother Sam Dressman at RB/WR, Ben Darlington at RB, and Lee McClure at WR. Harrison County was playing behind quarterback Robbie Stroub, they were without leading RB Zach Mastin for the game, and the Colonels successfully held the Thorobreds' next top rusher to zero yards in the game.

This October 18th, exactly 11 years after their last game at Harrison County, the 5-2 Colonels will roll into Thorobred Stadium after their bye week with Cash Harney at quarterback, with his explosive rushing and his passing thread, Dylan Gaiser at RB to provide a dual rushing threat out of the backfield, and a bevvy of wide receivers including senior Oliver Link, who had two receptions in their last game good for 2 touchdowns, and juniors Zach Brooks and Donovan Bradshaw. Cov Cath has had in impressive seven different players score on pass receptions this season and the team has outscored their first two district opponents 110-0. The defense, led by senior LB Tate Kruer, has only allowed 131 yards in district play, with many of those yards coming after backups had been substituted in mass.

Harrison County is currently sitting on a 1-6 record with their lone win taking place back on September 20th against Bourbon County with a 38-34 Thorobred win over the Colonels. Harrison County is led by sophomore quarterback JaCory Hinton who is 41-76 in 7 games played. The Thorobred offense, with 540 yards passing this season and 638 yards rushing, is reliant on sophmore RB Karsyn Sumpter for the lion's share of their ball carrying, having gained 43% of their rushing yards and 4 of their 8 touchdowns on the ground. Despite his -60 net yards rushing, QB Hinton has 2 of the team's rushing touchdowns, and senior RB Jaxson Zink has scored their other two touchdowns on the ground. Senior split end Tanner Tumey leads the offense in total yards this year with 259 yards on 18 catches and another 124 yards on 39 rushing attempts. Tumey also leads the team in total tackles with 61 from his position as cornerback, and senior linebacker Carsen Marshall has added in 51 tackles for the defense.

What are your predictions for the game on Friday?

* Playoffs

Unquestionably, this is a down year for the Thorobreds.  Colonels will have a first half running clock.  Offensively the Colonels will have plenty of opportunities to work on whatever areas they want to focus.

Haha, I appreciate it the offer, but we oughta be alright. The wife's Subaru Forester has a wheel bearing we knew was starting to slowly go because the car just seemed to have more road noise on the expressway. Unbeknownst to me she called the shop about it yesterday and they told her if we could get it to them by lunch today, they would have the bearing swapped out by end of day tomorrow.

If they want to work on Saturday I would get it to them too.

Dylan Gaiser returns the opening kickoff from the 14 yard line out to about the Harrison County 34 yard line. Flag on the return. Holding. That wipes out a GREAT return.

1st and 10 Colonels on their own 24 yard line.

RPO from Harney to Dylan Gaiser, who fumbles at the end of the run after the catch. Penalty flag down well behind the play. Personal foul called on Cov Cath for a blinside block.

Two plays, two big gains by Dylan Gaiser negated by a penalty on Cov Cath.

2nd and 3 Cov Cath on their 31 yard line.

Harney back to pass. He decides to tuck the ball and runs it instead.

1st and 10 Cov Cath on the Harrison County 37 yard line.
