Final per the Scoreboard.

Conner has a kicker. Nailed a 57 yarder with ease at the end of the half.

What’s the state record?

The KHSAA site only has records as of 2021, and on that is a 60 yarder. The 57 yards would rank 3rd. However, I’m sure there are some kids that have been around this distance the past 3 years.

I believe there was a kicker for Johnson Central about 8-10 years ago that kicked one longer than 60 yards. Just googled it. Tyler Pack Johnson Central 60 yards in 2013. Only a sophomore when he kicked it.

Here's an article I found about it. https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highschool-prep-rally/kentucky-sophomore-drills-60-yard-free-kick-field-192316633.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAAyfLMMhXMcys89ZqbyaNvE0pnPcij_KytuotjVz9ER5FZ_lBqRL_Z7KQDm0Bt3wu4fAxhQjaf-Q_hLUedDJPqS4gIHVvnop4rpFzb6wOvNugSRb4nNR2kOHGJsPDFYfLAUCjVaFCoY4lBiyL6b79FnelaJf84JOKLS-Vg4uHUQF

Interesting story. Johnson Central's Coach Matney had a player call a fair catch on a punt. Then that apparently allowed Pack to take a free kick for the 60 yard try, which he made. Pack also had a 58 yard field goal earlier that year.

There was a bit of a scuffle in the stands and some adults ejected over Connor's use of artificial noisemakers during the 1st quarter. Has that been an issue for Connor during other games this season?

I don't know about that but I have come across two parents on Facebook criticizing Dixie for their actions.  One was a JV/Frosh parent and the other a varsity parent.

@burreaux are talking about an air horn or something else?

Anyone, what are the rules on artificial noisemakers?  What about milk jugs with something in them?

No issues from Conner at Cooper last week that I know of.

From Dixie Heights Football on Facebook:

Congratulations to our JV Team on their 34-3 win over Conner!

Now that I have had a chance to get into the film, the difference in this game really did come down to special teams. Our starting kicker has been out since earlier this season so we don’t have a traditional boot. Just doing what we can with what we have. It hurt us on extra points and credit to Connor for stopping our 2-point conversion attempts. Those were the differences in points we needed as time expired. The average drive start for the Cougars was at their 35 to 40 and ours was consistently at the 20. The 57-yard kick was awesome so hats off to that kid. He kicked a 57-yarder in a high school game and that’s amazing no matter who you root for. I spoke with the refs going into halftime they said it was a line drive that cleared the crossbar by about 3 feet but still had another 5 yards of distance. In a game like this, every possession mattered. Connor's run game limited us to one drive in the 3rd Quarter. And although we locked it down in the second half defensively, the interception took a drive away from us in the 4th Quarter when we needed to maximize the time we had left.

I believe it was multiple air horns being used by Connor parents, a fan from Dixie came over to the Connor section and absolutely started the altercation. Multiple parents from Connor then got involved and then the school administration and police officers got involved and escorted multiple people out.

BGP had a thread on this a while back. I don't think there are any rules on noisemakers. However, there absolutely should not be noise from a band or other noisemakers during live action and especially pre-snap as it would interfere with play. It could even be a safety issue if the noise drowns out officials whistles.
