North Hardin 26 Bullitt East 14

Featured Replies

Went to this game tonight. North Hardin really dominated the line of scrimmage, especially defensively. #8 Josiah Hope was a man among boys for the Trojans. North Hardin scored first then had a pick-six and led 14-0 just a couple minutes into the game. Bullitt East never really responded. The Chargers offensive had some bright moments but never seemed to be able to consistently move the ball.

I was at the game as well and overall agree with this assessment.  I think North Hardin was simply the better team overall last night and their DL dominated up front.  I knew BE would struggle with Josiah Hope, but then again, a lot of teams will when he decides to play.  BE got into a 14-0 hole quickly last night and couldn't recover.  If not for the awful North Hardin special teams and the fact North Hardin seemed to not want to run the ball much despite gaining 5+ yards consistently on every carry, this game could have been a lot worse, possibly 35-0 or 42-7.  North Hardin had 2XPs blocked that I know of, a punt blocked that led to BE's first TD, another punt that was almost blocked and went 2 yards that setup BE's 2nd TD, plus NH muffed a punt, that the returner never should have attempted to pickup, that set BE up with great field position on another possession.

If North Hardin, coaches included, would simply get out of their own way, they could be a very formidable opponent.  Work on your special teams and for the love of all that's good and holy, run the ball some more!  If you're consistently getting 5+ yards per carry when you do, why wouldn't you do that more?

As for BE, they better not hang their heads and regroup quickly or they could be looking at a 3rd straight loss coming against Fern Creek.  They have to go to Fern Creek and I'm sure Fern Creek feels like they're the better team this year after losing 3 in a row to the Chargers.  That game is for a home playoff game, so plenty on the line.

I thought BE's Dline did fine.  I thought the defense as a whole played pretty decent.  Oline is struggling and Central and North Hardin have exposed that.  I think it's the 3rd or 4th variation of starters up front for the offense.  Nothing to do but go back to work.
