The state enters the halfway point of the regular season this week which features a rematch of last year's 50-40 shootout between Knox Central (2-2) and the Danville Admirals (0-4).  Due to the close nature of last year's game some Admirals fans believed that this could be one of the games Danville could win to break a winless streak that has run to 16 games.  However, Knox Central turned heads across the state two weeks ago by hosting Somerset, a top ten team in the Bluegrasspreps 2A rankings, and pulling a 14-7 upset.  They followed this up by going to Huntsville, Tennessee and beating Scott High School 24-6.

The Admirals enter looking for lots of answers.  The defense played well against Mercer County through three of the four quarters of last week's game but the Admirals never got anything going offensively until a running clock was called.  The Admirals have been shutout for the last 8 quarters of play and have endured running clocks in their last 2 games.  Knox Central is a 3A opponent, so the Admirals are playing up in class yet again.  And it is the second to last chance for the Admirals to figure some things out before district play begins against Leslie County on October 11.

Knox Central has only surrendered 13 points in their last two games.  They are under new coach Wayne Mills, who returned to the Panthers sideline in the offseason after coaching defensive backs at Corbin.  During Mills' last run the Panthers got to a regional final and he seems to already have the team headed in a good direction.

Will the Ads finally end their streak or will Knox Central notch a third-straight win and go above .500 on the year?

It silly to think that there is a big difference between 1-10 and 0-11 but there really is.  Leslie hasn't played a tough schedule but they are scoring a lot of points and I no longer think that is a possible win for Danville.  So this is a big game for Danville.  They REALLY need to win this one.  I just don't think they will.

Knox's drive took 9:36 off the clock.

K.J. Dismeaux (jr.) appears to take an onside squib to the Knox Central 36 yard line.  Flags fly and lots of ref discussion.  Personal foul against both sides so it offsets.

Danville first drive

1st & 10 - Trinden Sellers (so.) knocked back to the 39 and FUMBLES.  Jutayvion Beasley (so.) recovers for the loss.  Flag thrown and personal foul flagged on Danville.

1st & 25 - Beasley FUMBLES but gets it back to rush for 10 yards.

2nd & 15 - Sellers catches a screen pass for 3 yards.  Another flag thrown and there is another personal foul on the Admirals as Sellers has an argument with a referee.

3rd & 27 - Dismeaux rushes for 3 yards.

Admirals call timout with 2:46 left in the first quarter.
