DevilMayCare Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 2023 Outcome Record: 10-2 A versatile, explosive offense delivered 45 points and 420 yards per game. The Tomcats lost two games by a combined ten points, including going toe-to-toe with eventual 4A runner-up Covington Catholic in the season ender. 🔗 | Ashland's 2023 Statistical Leaders 🎓 Brandon Houston (WR) | Asher Adkins (WR) | Sawyer Edens (LB) | Austin Nichols (LB) | Jake Sexton (LB) | Tucker Rogers (OL/DL) | Cole Christian (OL/DL) | Joseph Hicks (OL) | Eli Alley (OL) | Nate Frieze (TE) 🔙 LaBryant Strader (QB) | Braxton Jennings (RB/DB) | Atayveon Thomas (RB/LB) | Cam Davis (DB) | Maverick Ashby (DB) | Dylan Duckwyler (DB) | Brady Marushi (OL) | Adam Frame (OL) | Cash Compliment (OL)  2024 Outlook With most of the primary components of the offense back, save for Houston and Ashby, Ashland's 2023 per game averages could easily be equalled, if not eclipsed. If the defense can even come close to matching the offense, the Tomcats will be in the thick of the Kroger Field conversation in a stacked 4A class. 1

colonel-fan Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 Tomcat offense is going to potent this fall. I may take in a game.
tomcat1984 Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 Ok now that everyone on FB knows this I’m posting this information about a car accident in the early morning of 4/14/24. TayTay Thomas rb/lb was involved in a major accident breaking his back and sending bone splinters into his spinal column. He for now is paralyzed from the midsection down. He was life flighted to Nationwide children’s hospital in Columbus yesterday. Not sure when the surgery will take place. Our local Texas Roadhouse for the next 2 weeks is taking donations for his family travel and lodging expenses. I think but not sure they’re matching the donations. He has 3 or4 brothers and sisters. All they’ve asked for is prayers for their son. 6
DevilMayCare Posted April 16, 2024 Author Posted April 16, 2024 Football obviously takes a back seat in the Ashland community right now, but this is also a blow to the Tomcats on the field. Thomas wasn't just a name on the roster, he's a player of great consequence for them. He's fast, a beast in the weight room, and a productive two-way starter. An integral part of what I anticipate will be a strong Ashland team this year. This is tragic on so many fronts, football is just part of it. From what I've read, he's displaying a great attitude and outlook about his situation and recovery. He sounds like a remarkable young man. 4
tomcat1984 Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 I believe this past week he was offered a full ride football scholarship to Centre College. In addition to being a great athlete he has the academic credentials to back it up. There’s been a few pics post on FB by his family and how he’s not letting this hold him back.Â

Part of me feels a sense of melancholy, because the bones and natural grass of old Putnam could tell some tales. New Putnam was bound to happen sooner or later. It'll continue to be one of the great venues for high school football you'll find anywhere. 2
