Mason County 88 Augusta 56

Royals ride Landon Scilley’s 25/6 and an 18-0 second quarter run while holding District POY Hinson to 11  points in the runaway win.

Wowza!  Thought this would be much closer, Augusta had been playing very well.

I’ve seen the word “clinic” used more than once to describe the game.

Augusta wasn’t going to win this one with an absent or hobbled Snapp, though.

This was a tough one to watch. I haven’t seen many of Mason County games this season but this has to be one of their best performances. Credit to them for making a statement that they are a contender for the 10th region’s spot in the Sweet Sixteen.

As for the Panthers, a great season came to an unfortunate end. But this loss will not define this group. They finished the season 20-10, the 8th 20 win season in school history, 4 of which have been in the last 11 seasons. Three of those seasons were coached by KABC 10th region coach of the year, Jason Hinson. We also brought home our 2nd All A region title. We lose KABC 10th region player of the year Kylan Hinson, Conner Snapp, Devante Jefferson, Elijah Johnson and Jesse Johnson. Good luck to our seniors. Keeton Bach, Will Kelsch and Noland Young return to lead the Panthers next season in the first year of seeding in the 39th district. We’ll see you then.
