2024 South Oldham Dragons

Coach Cain Sams is in his sophomore year as skipper of the Dragons. Job one for Coach Sams will be replacing his top skills players on offense, including his QB/leading rusher Nick Hamilton and Hamilton's two top receiving targets Andrew Farr & Jacob Acevedo, who were all lost to graduation. Starting running back Cole Greenwell returns on offense along with linemen Matthew Wells, Brady Schadt, Matthew Panaretos, Sam Dawson, and Korbin Jay. On defense the Dragons return all five of their leading tacklers in LB Parker Ellis, LB Davis Larsen, DB Juelz Davila, LB Luke Hatcher, and DL Sam Dawson.

South Oldham finished the 2023 season with a 6-5 record and ending the regular season 4th in their 5-team district. In district competition, they had a win over Anderson County and losses to Woodford County, Scott County and Collins. Their loss to Collins in the final week of their regular season was a heartbreaker for the Dragons on senior night, with South Oldham scoring a touchdown with under a minute left in regulation, but failing on their 2-point conversion and handing the Titans a 1 point victory. The season ended with a 43 point shutout to Highlands in Fort Thomas two weeks later in the opening round of the playoffs

Will the Dragons improve their position in the district in 2024? Can they look for a deeper run into the 5A playoffs this season?
