Who's the favorite in Richmond?

Featured Replies

Some of the region champs may not be determined until this evening.

Actually, the 11th region championship game for the girls is Friday.

Good luck to the Breds play your hearts out the tournament is up for grabs.

According to this thread, LCA is a heavy favorite. I believe if the Raceland Lady Rams stay focused and play as a team like they have throughout this season that they could impress some people. I don't know anything at all about Sommerset and the winner of this game will face the Paris/Paintsville winner in the 2nd round. Raceland beat a VERY good Rose Hill team to win the 16th. With the coaching of Bob Trimble, Kandi Parker and staff along with players Whitney Seals, Paige and Katelynd Porter, Rachel Vanderhoof, Britt Keeton and some well qualified reserves I sure wouldn't count them out. GO LADY RAMS (RAMBLERETTES!) - Best of luck at the all A State Tournament!!

Raceland has a good draw. I would think that their main concern will be to settle in and not get caught up in the atmosphere of the tournament. That is more of a problem than many might think particularly if you haven't been there for a while.

They have very winnable first round and second round matchups. Most likely, NCC awaits in the third round andthat would be a difficult game.

The path to the finals should be relatively easy for the tournament seasoned LCC and for that reason, among others, they are the clear favorite.

But then, who knows? Few expected St. Mary to be in the finals last year.

How ironic if Raceland/NCC would meet in the ALL A? Does history repeat itself or do the Lady Rams get some payback for the football team?

I predict an LCA/NCC final. I would give the edge to LCA based on their recent head-to-head match-up and a very talented PG in Emily London; however, NCC is capable of beating a lot of teams on any given night if they make the decision to show-up and play.

:thumb: Very good point scooter, maybe Coach Trimble could break out the tape of the "Hoosiers" movie for them to watch ;) , pull out the tape measure and explain that the goal is stiol 10ft. high, FT line 15ft away, etc.,etc.:D

Yeah, I mentioned this is another thread and it is one of my favorite movies.

That would be nice for Raceland to make it to the semi's but lets take it one game at a time ;) . I am sure that NCC feels the same way.

Is Vanderhoof okay? I too would like to see the Lady Rams win it all. Very tall order but would love to see the 16th represented well and I'm sure coach T will be ready.

From what I have been told, Vanderhoof should be fine. She was having ankle spasms (although I have not heard of this condition before, I am fairly certain this the term I was told) I wish her all the luck. She is a fun player to watch when she is on!

As for my favorite in Richmond....the LADY RAMS! Win or lose, they are still my favorite! GO LADIES!:ylsuper: :ylsuper: :ylsuper:

After beating Rosehill, I think a lot of people are opening their eyes to Raceland. Although I would love to see them in the finals, I still think NCC has more talent (but hey so did Rosehill). My prediction would be NCC and LCA in the finals. And I do believe LCA already played NCC and handled them pretty easily. But as we all know, you need to be healthy, lucky, and have the ball bounce your way a few times to have a shot at winning. Best of luck to the Lady Rams. And who knows, we might even see Raceland in the Sweet 16 too. Not too far of a stretch after what they have accomplished thus far.

I admit to knowing next to nothing about the fine team from Paintsville, but if Paris survives that first round contest, the Ladyhounds and Raceland could meet in the second round. Paris has also defeated Rose Hill, beating that team 70-61 in early December. Paris is a young team with no seniors and experienced graduation of many starters and reserves off their team from a year ago. Paris played Lexington Christian Academy competitively earlier this month, losing by 13. While the Ladyhounds have been inconsistent this season, they have had several impressive outings. Paris has seven losses but those include two defeats to 10th region power Montgomery County and losses to Henry Clay, Lexington Christian and Clark County. But the same team won its second contest with Clark County and has wins over Bourbon County, Harrison County and Bishop Brossart. It seems you never know what to expect from this young team, but it clearly can compete.

Best of luck to all the teams at the All-A and go Ladyhounds!
