John Hardin is led by its trio of RBs Emari Simon, Laysen Anderson, and Cavali Pittman who have combined for 1,587 yards on the ground.

Nelson County is also a run heavy team led by Joey Goff (718 yards).

The defense that can limit the rushing yards and win the turnover battle will win this game against what appears to be 2 evenly matched teams.

As a side note, the Nelson County school board has voted to merge Thomas Nelson and Nelson County schools. The board voted in favor of continuing to develop a plan to merge the two schools. Students at Thomas Nelson high school walked out in protest of this decision.

The board has not yet voted to merge the two schools. There was a proposal that was first presented at the last board meeting. Both schools have canceled classes this week while students are protesting and teachers are calling out “sick.“ Interestingly, Nelson County has just canceled school for tomorrow and it is a non-Dash NTI cancellation. I am curious whether they will be permitted to play this game tomorrow night.

if the game is played, I think it will be a very competitive contest. Having seen both teams, I think that John Hardin has a slight edge, both playing at home and because Nelson county running back. Joey Goff is out with an ACL tear.

This is going to be a really good game. JH has struggled offensively but they have now had 2 weeks to come up with a game plan vs Nelson. At the beginning of the year I thought Nelson would be a bit better than they currently are. Especially with their top RB out due to an ACL injury. This one will be a dog fight though and will likely come down to turnovers and who can move the ball more consistent tonight. JHs defense has been very stout vs the run so far this year. I think it'll be a 1 possession game but ill give a SLIGHT advantage to JH at home. Biased prediction has the Dawgs pulling out a close one at home.

JH - 24

Nelson - 21

Huge game tonight. Winner would get a home playoff game and will host the loser of tonight's Logan County/Warren East game. I think the District 1 team would be favored, but I'd much prefer playing at home. The loser of the John Hardin/Nelson County game will have to travel in the first round, playing at the winner of the Logan/Warren East game.
