Raiders Run With The Devils In Pursuit of District Championship

Records: East (6-2) | Russell (6-3)

Week 9 Results: East beat Lewis County | Russell beat Bath County

Series History: Russell leads 33-2 all-time

Teaser Preview: East Carter and Russell are coming in relatively hot, with both teams working on four game win streaks.

The Devils' recent success has been fueled by defense, allowing 10.7 points per game during this run. When they stop the run, they typically win. Russell has given up yardage on the ground in their losses, most notably to Ashland. In their six wins, they've stifled the run.

East has been the more consistent team, offensively. Quarterback Quentin Johnson has several dangerous skill people he can hand off and throw to, headed up by leading rusher Landon Yoak and receiver Michael Hall.

Russell has bounced back nicely from its worst season in a generation.

The Devils have owned the series, historically, but this is not your grandpa's East Carter. The Raiders are pushing for a fifth consecutive winning season, the longest such streak in program history.

A district title would mean the world to both.

In common opponents it looks to be a pretty even matchup that can go either way. It could come down to turnovers. I would like to see my Raiders pull off the win, but I would have to give Russell a very small advantage since it is at Russell. Hey is game going to be on MyTown TV?

It should be. All of Russell's home games are streamed by MyTown. With this being a district championship game, I can't imagine them not picking this up.

I will check it out. I know Douglass vs. GRC will not be a game so I will enjoy watching it.

It was my understanding that Andre Richardson-Crews was done for the season, but he returned last week against Bath County. It can't be overstated what a huge boost that is for Russell. Takes a lot of pressure off of QB Ethan Pack in the running game.

I'm siding with the Devils, but this game is probably one of tonight's bigger toss-ups.

Russell has a good opening drive that was stopped at the 1 yard line by a Raider interception.

Russell dents the scoreboard first with a QB keeper to open the 2Q.

7-0 Red Devils

You don't have to listen long to know who the announcers are for. lol

One of them is a former Russell QB, so there's going to be a definite lean, lol.

Russell reclaims the lead on another 1 yard keeper by Ethan Pack.

Halftime

Russell 14

East Carter 7

East had the ball inside Russell's 5 but the clock expired. Poor clock management? Champlin was not happy. He may have been trying to signal a timeout and the officials didn't notice.
