When NKY has thier turn and the 9000+ seat Bank of Kentucky Center is complete-- which is enough seating, what will we have for an excuse???

 

RENT!!!! Are the schools really that tired of the tradition that is the 10th regional tournament to pay to rent a facility just because it isn't in Maysville? What could NKU possibly gain from loaning it out for free. I believe UK even has to pay at RUPP.

Think like NKU's boys basketball coach and the director of admissions at NKU.

 

You have a chance to get a bunch of very good basketball players visit your campus and see the topnotch facilities you offer and you worry about rent being charged? If I was the boys coach I would do whatever I could to get the tournament on my campus.

 

You have a huge number of HS students visited your campus and you want to charge them rent? I am thinking you can get around it.

 

Does anyone associated with other regions (11th region and EKU for example) know if they are charged rent by colleges/universities?

MSU does not charge the 16th region for use of Johnson Arena....In fact they donate all proceeds from concessions to each district (on a rotating basis)--as if the district itself hosted the tourney. I am sure that NKU would probably work on a similar basis.

It's like inviting 100 players on an "unofficial" visit to your campus +countless other HS cheerleaders, band members, fans... This would be a cash cow for NKU

I agree with you. It should be rent free

I agree. I would be surprised if they don't.

The 11th region pays a fee for use of the Frankfort Civic Center when the region is held here every other year. However, I believe they get a sponsor to cover the fees.

I don't think it matters what night the games are played on to the fans.They will come anyway.It should all be held at the same location though and not different districts.

Do you feel the same way for going to the girls games? If your school plays girls Monday, boys Tuesday, girls Wednesday, boys Thursday, Friday girls, Saturday boys. Will you make all 6?

 

What about the cheerleaders and pep band that will be out 6 consectutive nights including 4 straight school nights? Add in the fact that you might have a Campbell County driving to Montgomery County or vice versa and that is 4 straight late nights.

I find it hard to imagine that NKU will pass up the opportunity to take a little cut off of the top for the tournament. Besides how many of those 100 players is actually on the radar at NKU? If a player is talented enough to go to NKU, especially from around the area, they probably already know it.

If they are just flipping the boys and girls times and days there is not difference than what it has been is there?The boys finals the next week instead of the weekend?I thought they were playing the girls on Fri and Sat night instead of the boys.

Nope. As has been laid out in the other thread. It would be Girls at district winner's site (not necessarily there home court) on Monday night. Boys at district winner's site on Tuesday night. Neutral site on Wednesday for girls semis. Neutral site on Thursday for boys semis. Neutral site on Friday for girls finals. Neutral site on Saturday for boys finals.

 

The way it would have been, would have been what you thought. But they didn't want to put the boys on Mon-Tues as the girls have been. It was in issue for the girls side as I know for a 100% FACT that the girls coaches association complained about the layout and offered a proposal of change and it was rejected. Now that the boys are having to do it, it is not acceptable.

Wouldn't be a 2 hour drive if it's in a central location!

It needs to stay in the Fieldhouse because a lot of small teams dream of playing on the big stage in the Fieldhouse.. A lot of small schools (Deming, Augusta, Silver Grove, Calvary, etc dont get the opportunity to play in a facility like the Fieldhouse..

The way it was and just flipping the boys and girls is the way it should be.Playing at different places is no good for the fans.If you are having a regional tournament thats what it should be,not an extended district tournament.
