The Dragons took a 14-0 lead in the 1H and then a few unfortunate events happened in sequence causing them to lose the advantage. The Raiders capitalized on the Warren Central turnovers and went into the half with an 16-14 lead, with the biggest being a muffed punt at the WC 1 yard line. The Raiders ran off 22 unanswered and are leaving Joe Hood Field with a win. Neither staff will be too thrilled about this one, Raiders expected a big win and got their nose busted for 4 quarters while the Dragons have to be kicking themself with all the opportunities they left on the table.
 

Warren East QB Dane Parsley (JR) finally enters the scoring department in week 4 with a pair of rushing TD’s.

Warren Central (1-3) will be on the road at Greenwood next week while Warren East (2-2) will travel to Calloway County.

Central lost four turnovers, all fumbles. I counted either six or seven total fumbles on their team. Have to be sick knowing you could’ve won the game had you taken care of the ball. 

@BIG BLACK JACK When QB Zarionte Howard (JR) (who I thought ran that offense as well as one could) exited the game in the 2Q after the failed 2 pt conversion to go up 14-0 I knew the Dragons were in trouble, glad he came back in the 2H but you could tell he lost that step. Call me crazy but Warren Central looked like the better football team this evening, offensively the Raiders are in shambles and I wasn’t surprised that the speed bottled Parsley. One big thing I’ll point out from tonight is WR/CB Tray Price (SR) did not play and he’s been a huge piece of the Raiders football team the past couple of seasons, hope to see him back out there soon.

Warren Central was definitely the better team tonight but couldn’t get out of their own way. At least 2 of the fumbles were in the red zone and 1 was inside the 10.

Those and the muffed punt at the 1 cost them the game. If they hold into the football they easily win this game by 2-3 TDs. Defense played about as well as they could.

Hate to say it, but even in victory, the bottom seems to have fallen out over at East.

Watching them, I don't believe anything was retained from last year's run in terms of scheme offensively. It's like they've just eliminated a part of their identity and I don't get it. 

Central deserved to win this game.

@BillNye Open up district play next week, the stretch of the next 3 games will determine if they even make the playoffs, needing 2 wins just to get in. They should but are not guaranteed a win next week against Calloway, and then host Hopkinsville and then following it up with bitter rival Allen County Scottsville at Jim Ross field. If they don’t win all of those, the Raiders will go under .500 this season. Very disappointing start and nothing has made one believe things are moving in the right direction.

I will choose to look positively on this that Warren Central is continuing to take the steps that they need to close the gap that had developed between them and the other teams around. Catching East is probably the most attainable one. They could have taken a bigger step yesterday, but as many have said, they really looked like the better team. Last year that would have been one thing, as that was the team that broke through. Sustaining momentum into the next year is another, so I’m encouraged despite the record. 
 

I’m an FSU fan, so Bobby Bowden’s philosophy is one I look to with Warren Central. First you lose big, then lose small, then win small, then win big. It’s going to vary with team to team but right now with East, they’re in the loose small area. Hopefully it becomes win small in the near future.
