For the 2022 season, John Hardin started mostly underclassmen and it showed, as they struggled to score and finished the season with a 2-9 record. The experience that these players got as Freshman and Sophomores at the varsity level last season should pay big dividends this year in the win/loss column.

John Hardin's offensive production last season only produced 2,167 yards in 11 games. Jabari Wilkson returning at quarterback with Sophomore Austin Richardson backing him up should improve the offensive efficiency. Sophomore Layden Anderson returns at running back after rushing for 1,088 yards and 10 TDs last season. Cavalli Pitman will also return to the backfield with Makandi Rosier gone. The receiving group returns Donte Jones and TJ Williams from a group that only had 20 pass completions on the season. The offensive line returns Dustin Berry, Damian Lyons, and Blaine Meinikeim and should be much improved.

John Hardin allowed 430 points last season but return most starters on defense. TJ Williams, Kevone Black, Will Adams, Damian Lyons, and Justion Berry all return along the defensive line. Jabari Wilson and Layden Anderson both return at linebacker. The defensive secondary will see new faces as McKhi Hopkins, Deondre Doctor, and Freddy Arnold have been lost to graduation.

There is excitement around this program heading into the 2023 season with expectations of a winning season and playing in a newly renovated stadium that includes a new turf field, new student section bleachers in the south endzone and other improvements that should make this the best environment to watch a football game in the area. Doug Preston knows how to build a winning program, winning a state championship with Franklin-Simpson in 2018. The hope from many John Hardin fans in the area is that this experience can return the John Hardin program to a championship contender as it was under legendary coach Mark Brown.

Hancock County Must find a QB to replace Cole Dixon who threw for 1226 yards in 2022 as well as leading receiver Kaleb Keown.  Hancock County lost 15 players to graduation and must rebuild in a hurry in order to be competitive in district 1.

I think John Hardin has the experience returning on both sides of the ball and will pull this one out 34-13.

Crazy game. Hancock County wins in OT 6-0

Wowww. Did not expect this with how much Hancock lost this last season. I know JH has been down for a while but what going on over there.

Yep.  JH shouldn’t be losing to Hancock.
