Wheel of Fortune's Pat Sajak is retiring

Featured Replies

Pat is a legend. I hope he enjoys retirement.

Hopefully they can find someone decent as a replacement.   Jeopardy without Trebek is not as entertaining.  Sajak was the humor in WOF, missing that really dulls down the show a lot more.

For all the love Trebek got in his later years, he sounded like a condescending jerk until the last 10 years or so.

I've watched more WOF since the start of covid than before it. In my opinion Sajak comes off as a phoney. We generally listen with the volume low and just try to solve the puzzles without listening to him.

But that's just my personal opinion, he's not my cup of tea and I know several people love the job he does.

Fell however you want about Trebek, but Jeopardy has been less entertaining since he left.   Now when you do it for as long as he did, you learn the nuances.   Clearly Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik haven't learned that yet.  Maybe they get better, maybe they don't.  Time will tell.

Sajak's humor may have been phoney, but I'm sure that was to keep himself sane.   I know I yelled at contestants when they wasted money buying vowels they didn't need.  May have been all Pat could do to keep from taking a few steps to his left and punching someone.

I feel the same about everything you say here. With Sajak, what a cush job. He is obviously good at it, but that is the lottery hitting of game show host gigs. Well, Deal or No Deal is not much behind but it at least requires more dialogue.

Trabek was always rude, but he won me over the last 15 years or so. Much tougher gig.

Many people dismiss how challenging the game show host role is. You have to be a skilled commentator, not just knowledgeable. Jeopardy botched the selection process and Jennings ended up getting the job by default. I always thought someone like an Anderson Cooper type would be much more suited for the role.

I read that Ryan Seacrest will replace Pat as host.

Yep, just saw that. Seacrest definitely needs the work ?

Kidding aside, he seems like a natural fit for the job.

I wonder of they will go younger across the board and replace Vanna with Sajak's daughter (who filled in for Vanna when she took over Pat's hosting duties for a brief spell.)
