? Final at NKU.

Dominant second half by the Indians.

Another great season by the 11th ranked Colonels. Outgoing seniors Sammy Berman and Ella Steczynski, members of the 2021 Regional champs, each joined the 1,000 point club. Dixie (25-8) will be a strong contender again next year.

The 9th ranked Indians (26-7), this year's "All 'A' Classic" champs, will meet the winner of Highlands vs. #7 Ryle in Friday night's 8:00 semifinal.

Congrats to the Lady Indians on knocking off District Champ Dixie in round 1. Friday’s game vs. Ryle should be a good one!

Congratulations to Holy Cross for knocking out a very good Dixie team and advancing to play Ryle on Friday night. After a back and forth first half that saw the Colonels take a 24-23 lead into halftime the Indians exploded in the 2nd half. They started the 3rd quarter with a 10-0 run and never looked back limiting Dixie to only 16 2nd half points. Holy Cross was led by senior Najae Lewis with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Junior Miyah Winzie added 10 points and Senior Aleah Arlinghaus had 9. Senior Julia Hunt battled foul trouble all night and finished with 6 points and 8 rebounds.

Best of luck to the Dixie seniors Samantha Berman and Ella Steczynski.

Dixie 9 15 7 9 - 40

Holy Cross 15 8 15 18  - 56

Dixie (25-8) - Berman 9, Pelfrey 9, Steczynski 7, Elkins 6, Brooks 4, Buddenburg 3, Thelen 2.

Holy Cross (26-7) - Lewis 15, Wimzie 10, A. Arlinghaus 9, Nelson 8, Williams 7, Hunt 6, Hayes 1.

Interesting to me that the Champs of the 33rd and 35th will meet Friday night in one semi, and the Runners-Up of the 33rd and 35th will meet in the other (having knocked off the champs of the 34th and 36th, respectively).

I was thinking about this one the way home from the arena last night.
