Evangel not in since opted out for All A tournament last year. Per an article from the CJ, the LIT committee bans teams for one year and charges a $1,000 fine before allowing schools to re-enter the LIT after dropping out. They upped the fine portion of the rule to $3,000 in 2013. Both CAL and Evangel have said that they will not pay a $3,000 fine, so it sounds like the LIT committee may be reconsidering their fine. If more teams tell the LIT to pound salt after being levied with a re-entry fine for dropping out for a year, the LIT is gonna run out of good competition in the tournament pretty fast. Evangel's coach Larry Miller made a really good point in the article....KHSAA membership only costs $1,000 a year, yet the LIT committee seems to think the right to compete in their tournament is worth three times that amount. Why Evangel, DeSales and CAL are out of 2023 LIT and the rule that may change as a result | courier-journal.com
DragonFire
Does the LIT pay any money to the winner and/or participants? Because if not, I don’t care how much prestige the tourney has, I would never pay that fine.

coachb110
It's a shame DeSales will be banned from next year's LIT. They're going to have one heck of a good team!!
