The 2021 8th Region champs square off at home against last year's Region runner-ups (Woodford), one of the top two ranked teams in the region this year.

Thoughts?

Great test for this Oldham County team, with a new coach (Josh Leslie, who coached Seneca the past two years).   Junior Max Green is the undisputed leader of the Colonels, and the only real returning starter.    Luke Amburgey is going to be called upon to assume a much greater role as he moves up from 6th man to the starting five.

Woodford with two D1 basketballers and two D1 footballers.   That's incredible concentration of sheer talent.    Jasper Johnson is the real deal - if you haven't seen him, you need to.    Wiry, athletic, 6'4" guard who can do it all - ranked in the nation's top 15 sophomores.    John McCrear, 6'9", on the inside can be a force and changes a lot of things the offense wants to do.

Woodford ranked #20 in the preseason BGP poll, and might be a little under-ranked early, in my opinion.

Oldham ranked #5 in the region in the BGP pre-season 8th Region rankings, but certainly has the potential to be a top 3 team in the region.    This should be a fun game on the Buckner hardwood.

Is Mcrear healthy?  I had heard he was out until January with an injury.

Latest update is McCrear did not play the other night against Lex Christian.   Neither did Sparks, apparently.

Max Green leading the Colonels at 24.7 ppg through three games, including 31 against Christian County in the last game.   Hitting 52% from the floor.

No Woodford stats from the first game yet.
