16thBBall Fan
Breakdown by conferences: SEC-5 out of top 11 ACC- 5 Pac 12-5 Big 10-4 out of top 16 Big 12-4 American-2 One interesting point with the expanded playoff system coming Tulane would be the highest non-power 5 that would be placed in the playoff format.
Jumper_Dad
It will be very interesting how far the Tennessee/Georgia loser falls next week. Assuming the UT/UGA winner wins out, I think they make the final 4 even if they lose the SEC title game. LSU with two losses already is ranked way too high in the CFP rankings. Jumper_Dad
SEC Scenarios The loser of UT/UGA is out if Bama wins out and wins the SEC. The loser of UT/UGA could get in if the winner goes on to win in Atlanta and the UT/UGA game was not a blow out. I think the winner of UT/UGA is in the playoffs even if they lose in Atlanta, unless they just get smoked. >>>Crazy scenario to follow<<< What if a two loss SEC West team (Bama,LSU,Ole Miss) wins the SEC Title Game, while having an undefeated B1G champ(IN), undefeated TCU(IN), undefeated Clemson(IN), 1 Loss PAC Champ, 1 loss UM/OSU loser, who gets in from SEC? The 2 loss champ, the 1 loss runner-up, the 1 loss loser of UT/UGA or no SEC teams get in? >>>Best Case for SEC<<< (Nearly impossible) UT/UGA is an instant classic, loser falls no lower than 6th in CFP ranking. Michigan or Ohio State lose a game then beats the other one giving both 1 loss. TCU loses Clemson loses PAC does PAC things and all end up with two losses Bama or Ole Miss with one loss beats undefeated UT/UGA winner in Atlanta. It'll never happen but a case could be made for UGA/UT/(Bama or Ole Miss) to all three make it in with probably the B1G champ.

I agree and the fact that UT is number one here but a huge underdog against "#3" Georgia makes me think this is all corrupt.

We could let Vegas pick the final 4, I guess. Lol Seriously though based on their season UT deserves to be #1. Being around a TD underdog at the #3 home isn't that far off in my opinion. One thought is that this UT team may be having a season like LSU had where they just over power everyone. Another is at the end of the day UGA is just a different animal on defense and finally slows them down. Either way I don't see corruption in this first ranking, it's just the first and they have to start somewhere.

Alabama with 1 loss would be in. Then who deserves a 2nd SEC BID if they were to get two? UT with 1 loss to Bama or UGA which lost to UT? I can't see UGA getting in over a UT team that just beat them, or UT getting in over UGA if it is reversed.

Say UGA beats Tennessee, then Alabama beats UGA in the SEC championship. 1 loss Alabama, SEC Champion. 1 loss UGA, SEC Runner up 1 loss Tennessee, only loss to SEC runner up. It's probably unlikely, but I would not be shocked if all three got in in that scenario.

Jumper_Dad
I don't see any two loss teams getting in CFP, unless there aren't at least 4 teams with 1 or fewer losses.
