A lot of fun games on tap this week which might shuffle things again after this week.  Here is how I see it this afternoon.  Wanted to get this in before I get influenced by games tonight.

1. NDA

2. CONNER

3. HIGHLANDS

4. SIMON KENTON

5. DIXIE

6. COOPER

7. CAMPBELL COUNTY

8. ST HENRY

9. BISHOP BROSSART

10. BEECHWOOD

mid year, one phrase summary on each team.  Do you agree?

1. NDA - Grinding, but need offensive chemistry

2. CONNER - Best Conner team in years, don't be shocked if...

3. HIGHLANDS - Talent not adding up to results

4. SIMON KENTON - New coach making surprising impact

5. DIXIE - Talent not same as recent years, yet still dangerous

6. COOPER - Same as Highlands

7. CAMPBELL COUNTY - Would the real Lady Camels please stand up

8. ST HENRY - Mandy Schlueter... Wow!

9. BISHOP BROSSART - Consistently relevant

10. BEECHWOOD - Expected more this year

Ryle - How is Ryle not a top ten team?

Holy Cross - What happened?

@Big Red I think you hit every team perfectly.

I think the 9th Region Player of the Year right now has to be Amanda Schlueter.  She has been incredible.  As a Girls soccer enthusiast I am highly disappointed she was banged up with the Birds played them.  I would have loved to watch her in person.  I see that she pretty much beat Conner all by herself.  She scored ALL 4 goals!!!! I am waiting to see if @Defense_Wins_Gamesis going to add any details of last nights game.  I see that 2 of her goals in the stats were not accompanied with an assist so I am just guessing she got it and did it herself.....simply amazing.

Highlands - still waiting for the coaching staff wanting to win.  He has thrown a few interesting personnel patterns out there, giving players different looks at where they may fit in.  I just get the feeling that with only one Senior playing significant time, is he just rebuilding for the future and if he wins by rebuilding then he is happy with that.  As we all know though I feel like with both the Boys and Girls in NKY as a whole, you don't need to rebuild.....play to win and NKY is yours this year.

Ryle - I totally agree!!!  I realize and heard they started the season really banged up missing several starters.  Unfortunately, they have not shown ANYTHING yet in NKY!  Their only win against a NKY team was against NCC which isn't saying too much.  Plus they lost to Boone County which says A LOT!  Now they just went down to the Smoky Mountain Classic this past weekend and were named that weekends Champion so will that start something for them?  They will have plenty of NKY competition to show us if they are FINALLY the real deal against:  Holy Cross, Cooper, Dixie in the next 2 weeks.

My other big surprise team to your point is Simon Kenton.  Those coaches seem very passionate and have that team working extremely hard.  I thought with the departure of Rob and his daughter that the program was going to be hurting this year but that has not been the case.  I am really looking forward to the battle between Simon Kenton and Dixie this Saturday morning!

Great stuff @Big Red!

I find this sort of funny and more reason why Schlueter is carrying this Cru team.

The last 3 games she has played here are the results and what Amanda did in them:

Beat Ryle 2-1, Schlueter scored both goals

Tied Campbell County 2-2, Schlueter scored both goals

Beat Conner 4-2, Schlueter scored all 4 goals

Crazy!!!!

For the season she has played in 7 of the 10 games (missed 3 due to injury) and has 20 goals so far!

She for sure is a fabulous player.  She is probably the best offensive player I have seen.  Her touches are good and vision of the field, great.  I felt like possession was equal.  At 2-2 we still, IMO felt like the game was still ours to win.  An unfortunate hand ball called in the box which somehow resulted in a red card for one of our players and a PK for Schlueter, taking the score to 3-2.  After that we looked a little defeated and then comes the 4th goal and it was not good after that.  Hate to lose but this will do us some good, refocus us.

Ryle and HC tie 3-3.  Nothing too exciting to report honestly.  I felt like HC had more time of possession and definitely more shots on goal particularly the first half but continue to struggle punching it in.  There were a couple of times when Hoffman was driving getting ready to shoot and ended up on the ground.  Once looked like it was pretty clear cut lower the shoulder push down but it is what it is.  Iasillo from Ryle was really quick and penetrated the Indian defense well.  I am not sure why she didn’t play more.  Lehmkuhl the Ryle freshman goalie made some nice stops in the first half.

Will you be doing a post season summary thread?  I love reading your takes about the NKY lady soccer programs and it seems like a lot has happened unreported over the last 2 weeks.

Hope to read your thoughts soon.
