Gulf Shores

Featured Replies

I'm heading to Gulf Shores next week for vacation.  Myself, Wife, and our 3 year old.  Any recommendations on things to do or places to eat?

It's been about 10 years since being down there.

Papa Rocco's - At the time, the pizza was great.  Obviously not something you plan on eating when getting to Florida, but we were looking for something quick and easy the first night there while getting settled in.  Ended up going back a 2nd time later in the week as the 2 little ones loved the pizza.

LuLu's - Get there early to beat the crowd.  Food was good, nothing amazing.  Nice atmosphere with the play area for the kids.  Granted, 3 year old is likely to little to enjoy the play area.

Tacky Jacks - Good food at a reasonable price.

The Hangout - Good food and atmosphere on the beach.

I've heard The Gulf is good from relatives that have been down there recently.  Right on the beach down in Orange/Perdido Beach.  It's made out of old shipping containers.

Sea n Suds and Gulf Island Grille weren't very good at all.

I'm sure there are new places down there as there was stuff under development when we were down there.

Check the Blue Angels schedule.  They do practice sessions and actual shows.  Go park at Target in Pensacola and watch them from the parking lot.  You won't be alone if you do.  The 3-year-old would probably enjoy it.

Crico's Pizza is a little hole in the wall place in Gulf Shores, but fantastic pizza.

Lambert's in Foley is excellent although you'll have to wait.  Big Mike's Steakhouse is also a very popular spot but we've never been.  Also a long wait there.

Sweet Cone Alabama in Orange Beach for some good ice cream.

My better half’s first cousin and her husband just sold their Gulf Shores condo.  Bought for 250K a few years ago, sold for double that.  We never did get down there so I can’t offer any culinary advice.

Parker recommends the meatloaf.

The shrimp basket and oyster house are good restaurants.

A place called Doc's, a seafood place, nothing fancy, but our favorite place by far for seafood.
