Lyon County controlled the 2nd Region during the 2021-2022 season, scoring 23 wins in as many tries.  The Lyons (what a great mascot for this school) won their District & Regional Tournaments by an average of 22.8 ppg.  Ryan Perry's team did not find as much good fortune outside the 2nd however, going 5-6 against non-Region opponents.  Lyon is led by scoring machine Travis Perry, a sophomore who averages 27.7 ppg & could very well threaten to break "King" Kelly Coleman's all-time high school scoring record.  Senior forward Jackson Shoulders averages a double-double at 19.6 ppg. & 10.4 rpg.  

John Hardin arrives as the king of the 5th Region.  The Bulldogs had to outlast two-time defending champ Elizabethtown for the third time this season.  Austin Jones' club survived that Overtime thriller and now come to Rupp for the first time since 2019.  The Dogs have 4 players averaging double-figures and possess depth that is usually important to make noise in March.

Who survives this 1st Round battle?

My instinct was John Hardin, but I'm going with Lyon County 79-75.
