I said Day had to demote/fire Coombs for this team to be for real and he did. Matt Barnes has been great, the defense is better than statistically one of the worst. Still, talk to me after Penn State. Anyone can crush Rutgers and Maryland. 2

I don't think their defense is good enough to slow that OSU offense down...and they get PSU in Columbus. Tried telling you after the Tulsa game they'd get things figured out. Too much talent not to.

I figured the offense would progress. It was the defense who gave up 3 TD’s to Oregon on the same exact play/formation that had me sell my stock. I didn’t think Day would demote/fire Coombs after 1 game, I was wrong there.

I could be wrong but I think this was kick started by the Bama showing last year and the outside noise that started then. Not many coaches have the guts to make a move like this in the middle of a season. Good for Day recognizing an issue and correcting it early before a season is wasted. 1

I talked to a few people in the know, when Day called Coombs into his office “he told him, I got all American players who came back, I have to do this for them.” To coach Coombs’ credit he took it like a man. 2
