Pretty good game. PRP's trademark defensive aggressiveness was hampered a lot by quick whistled officials — they've been like that all week in all games, so it wasn't just a homer thing — kept them in foul trouble.

 

Combine that with North holding the Panthers to one shot (NL had 28 defensive rebounds to PRP's 9 offensive boards, and the Jags won the overall rebounding battle) on offense and the Jags shooting well from the field (51.6 percent), and you've got the makings of a near-upset.

 

If NL could've induced Benson to foul out sooner — he picked up his fifth with four seconds left after getting his fourth with just under 5:00 to play — they might've pulled it off. Benson had four points and two steals after getting his fourth and had 17 overall.

 

Then again, if NL could've hit more FTs — they were 14-of-29 — they would've won relatively easily.

 

Nick Shannon's 23 led NL. He fouled out with 28 seconds left and the Jags down two. After that, Adam Delph broke the press and took it all the way for the layup to ice it for PRP.

 

Should be a good game tomorrow night between PRP and South in the championship. I, however, won't be there …

A week ago I wouldn't have given NL a snowball's chance in hell of staying within 25 of PRP. That's how much they've improved in just the last four games. Right now they would have to be the favorite to win the 49th.

I thought both Clay and NL would be really down this year. Coach Spurlock and Coach Conway are both doing excellent jobs ths year and both teams are very young. If Clay and North can avoid drawing each other in the first round of the district I think they both advance to the Region over Jackson, OBI and Redbird.

Jackson Co., North Laurel and Clay Co. are all three about the same, it should be a very interesting district tournament. Who is the host?

RED BIRD! Ouch.

NL is a very young team with only 2 seniors, Asher and Trabish. The young guys are starting to find their legs and Conway is doing a very good job with this young group. Over the past 2 seasons, NL has graduated 14 seniors (7 in each of the past two seasons) and all were either starters or contributors. Hats off to the improvement they are showing!

A little off topic but I felt I needed to say this. Today the PRP team was in Wal-Mart in London. They were very well mannered and considerate for the customers around them. The reason that I want to point that out is that on Tuesday or Wednesday the entire Trinity team was in the store, they acted like a bunch of idiots. Running, screaming, throwing balls through the store, acting like they were trying to steal something (I don't think they actually did). Overall the Trinity kids not very well behaved. I have never had any contact with this school, but from their reputation I sure expected more of these kids than to act like a bunch of total idjits.

 

Again hats of to the PRP kids, I spoke to a few any they were all very nice young men.

I had actually thought about starting a seperate thread for this because of the way PRP kids handled themselves (also beat So. Laurel later in the day). I did not even think about it at the time that I might upset "the might rock nation."
