Danville 8 Somerset 7 (12th Region Championship)

Featured Replies

The Admirals (38-3) complete a perfect 24-0 region run with a dramatic one run win over the Jumpers. Somerset ate away at an 8-0 Danville lead to trim the deficit to a single run, but the Ads hang on.

Neither starter was on their game tonight. Walks, defensive miscues and a couple timely hits by Danville put Somerset in a big hole early.

Danville starter had only given up 1 hit when he came out of the game. He had however walked 4 and just hit his 4th Somerset hitter. The 4th HBP came on the next pitch after beaning his 3rd and being warned by the Umpire not to hit another one.

Down 8-0 Jumpers clawed back and I thought they had tied it up in the bottom of the 7th, but it wasn't to be...the ball drifted just left of the foul pole.

Thus concludes the incredible high school athletic career of three sport star Kade Grundy.

- A top baseball prospect and Louisville commit

- Somerset's all-time leading scorer on the hardwood

- An All-State wide receiver

He was special.

Yes, he was.

I  think we aren't done hearing from him, either.

How close was Grundy to a home run?

I'm not sure. I heard it went over the pole, but the radio guys said there was a 6 man crew and the ump was looking right at it.

Unbelievable accomplishments all throughout his career with Somerset. Agree with the sentiment above. This young man is a winner and will do big things ahead.

Congrats on a fine career, Kade, and good luck at the next level!
