Pierce Named Head Coach of Barren County High School Football Program

Kyle Pierce has been named Barren County High School head football coach.  Coach Pierce, an Edmonson County High School graduate, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physical education from Western Kentucky University.  He began his career at Warren Central High School where he worked as assistant football and girls basketball coach.  In 1999, he returned to Edmonson County High School.  From 1999 to 2003, Coach Pierce served as assistant boys basketball coach, and in 2004 he took over as the head football coach.  He held that position for twelve years, winning the district championship in 2011.  He was recognized as Kentucky’s Overall Coach of the Year in 2011 by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association. In 2011, Coach Pierce took on the role of athletic director, holding that position through the 2020-21 school year.  He was named 3rd Region Athletic Director of the Year in 2019.  Coach Pierce brings a wealth of experience and success to the program. As a veteran coach, Kyle understands how to motivate young athletes, build community support, and create an environment that will allow our program to grow for years to come.

Amy Irwin, Barren County High School Principal, commented, “We are excited to welcome Coach Kyle Pierce to Barren County High School.  Coach Pierce is an outstanding football coach and leader with a proven record of success.  His emphasis on the total development of student-athletes in the classroom, on the field and in preparation for life after football will help our athletes reach their full potential.  Coach Pierce has demonstrated a commitment to integrity and excellence throughout his career, and we look forward to a bright future for our Trojan Football program under his leadership.”

Barren County High School athletic director, Warren Cunningham, also expressed his support for the new hire, “We are extremely excited for Coach Pierce to join the BCHS family.  He is an outstanding football coach and person.  He will be a great leader and mentor for our young men and a true asset to BCHS.”
