I believe this affirms Rose Hill as the #2 lock in the 16th.

Good win for Garrard County. Rowan County was considered one of the top five teams in the sixteenth region from what I've heard (correct me if I'm wrong). Garrard held Matthew Daniel to thirteen points.

For the Golden Lions (5-3), they were led in scoring by senior center Cody Ives (17 points) and sophomore forward Evan Preston (17 points). Junior guard Nate Ploskonka chipped in 16 points.

Garrard will play host Madison Southern tomorrow night at 8pm. Southern defeated Garrard 66-55 in a regular season game last week.

This is a much-improved Garrard County team.

I am a little shocked at the outcome of this game. I expected a lot more from Rowan. Garrard looked much better tonight than they did against Madison Southern. I look for a great game tomorrow night at 8:00 when Garrard County plays Madison Southern for the second time this season.

Garrard is still without their three year starter Johnson who won't be back until after Christmas.

This is a good win for Garrard and gives a little more respect to the 12th. If the 9-12th place team from the 12th, no offense to Garrard, beats a top three or four team from another region, that should always bring more respect to the region.

I don't think anyone around Lancaster would take offense. The Golden Lions finished 5-19 last year, so not much has been expected of them. Garrard is making steady progress, however, and hopefully will make a couple more good showings in tournaments at Madison Southern and McCreary Central.

They should be able to come to the McCreary tournament and pick up a few good wins. I hope and would think that they're getting better as a team. They'll have a winning year, but they'll have a tough time getting to the region tournament with Lincoln and Boyle in their district.

You're right. No matter how the season plays out, Garrard will likely need an "upset" over Boyle or Lincoln to get to the region. But there's a lot of season left.

As for the McCreary tournament, Garrard opens with Cumberland County. A win puts them up against Barbourville. A loss likely means a game with Williamsburg. Hopefully the young Lions will pick a couple wins like you said.

Do you have the actual tournament bracket? I just have what's from KHSAA and I don't know how it plays out.
