First half very sloppy for Royals alot of missed layups and missed shots but all in all good game. West Union alot better team than I expected.

Thanks for the updates. Were you ever able to make connection with WFTM on the internet? I cannot and don't know what is wrong.

I was at the game. Tonight or leading scorer was Trevor Setty so that mess started in the JBS post about mason co being nothing without Miller is just average is BS. Anyone know what was going on with Miller tonight he wasnt at the Mason Co vs West Union game till around the 3rd quarter. Good Job Dragons this is your best team in 20 years. I wish you guys the best of luck :thumb:

Darius was there from the tip,But i think i get your drift he didnt play well at all till 3rd.

Congrats Royals on the win,West union was a very good team they had decent size and was very quick. They played hard till the end and gave Mason all they wanted for 3 1/2 quarters and they pulled away to win because of there depth. On to the 5/3 next week should be fun as we have 8 days off to prepare.

I hope the 8 days off dont work its toll on the royals right before the tough teams come along in the 5/3 :scared:

Highfield are you sure that was Darius? that wasnt the Darius I am used to seeing play when we get into the tough competition the mighty royals have to be clicking on all cylinders. :fight:

In Darius' defense, he was hit virtually every time he got the ball down low. Officials let a lot go under the basket. He seemed to get frustrated when his shot wouldn't fall, but still rebounded and played defense; finally came to life on the offensive end later on. Setty stepped up, solid game from Middleton as well. Scott had a few key baskets also, and stayed with #23 for most of the game. I did think it was a little silly for West Union to be fouling with a minute and a half to play down 20; but some coaches play it that way - never conceding anything.

#23 for West Union is a nice little player, fairly quick and a good long-range shooter. #44 and #33 have some size and aren't bad around the basket, but each could have fouled out twice had the game been called more closely. Not saying the game was called unfairly, just let a lot go.

A much more entertaining contest than some thought it would be, West Union brought a very nice crowd with them tonight. It's obvious that they're behind this team, which should be competitive in their league. Too much depth and speed for Mason tonight which was to be expected.

Scoring:

Ripley: Staggs 8, Cox 20, Bennington 15, Hacker 4, Richmond 16

Mason County: Scott 14, Miller 19, Setty 27, Browning 5, Middleton 22

Interesting that EVERYONE is talking about the poor game from Darius. 19 points and 14 rebounds. Yes, he missed a lot of contested shots, but it wasn't as bad as all that.

Mason only had 5 hit the scoring column?

Yep - everyone played, but only 5 scored. King, Stahl and Browning saw the most minutes off the bench but everyone got in the game. WU basically played 7 guys until the very very end, and probably would have played their starters even more had a couple of them not been in foul trouble (#32 and #4 I think).
