They were trying to figure out a way to get him to Denver in time for the game... Snow storms in the Denver area right now so most of the airports were closed. I read that it was highly improbable that he would play tonight, but they were doing the best they could to get him there to suit up.

 

Not sure if that still stands.

His agent said he will not play till Friday... Miller and Smith will wait till Friday also...

DENVER -- Allen Iverson was on his way to Denver to join the Nuggets for his debut Friday night, but a few obstacles stood in his way: airport trouble, snow-covered roads and conditions of the trade involving the four-time scoring champion.

 

Iverson still has to undergo a physical and Andre Miller and Joe Smith have to report to Philadelphia and take physicals as well. Ivan McFarlin, who was also acquired by Denver in the trade Tuesday with the 76ers, doesn't factor into the equation since Denver has waived the physical requirements for him.

 

"Hypothetically, if A.I. and Andre pass their physicals and Joe doesn't, nobody can play," Warkentien said.

 

There's a time limit as well. Iverson has to report and clear his physical an hour before the game. That's when the active roster is due.

 

However, the game time may be pushed back since Sacramento is having trouble arriving into town. Denver International Airport has been closed the last two days due to a blizzard, and just recently reopened Friday afternoon.

Iverson Set to Play for Nuggets

On ESPN.COM, the ASSOCIATED PRESS reports, "[Allen] Iverson passed his physical after arriving at the Pepsi Center about an hour before Friday night's game between Denver and Sacramento. Nuggets coach George Karl said he expected to play Iverson as soon as he was available, though he wasn't sure that meant the guard would start."

Allen Iverson took the court for the first time as a Nugget with 3:25 left in the 1st qaurter.

I actually like it. AI can play with a nice young core of talent (as opposed to a young core with no talent in Philly) and an experienced veteran C in Marcus Camby... Melo and AI were teammates on the olympic team a couple of years ago...

 

People seem to look over the fact that even though Iverson averages over 30 PPG, he also averages over 7 APG.

 

I don't think this match is going to win a championship this season by any means, but I definitely think it'll work.

I'm with hangman, this isn't the same AI that everyone's used to for the last 2 or 3 years you've seen Iverson put up around 30 points with 8 or 9 assists opposed to his younger days. With the situation in Philly I didn't look at it as AI scoring 30 because he was a ball hog but more because of the lack of talent on the Sixers roster. Look at some of the U.S. team games, AI doesn't care to give up the ball, of course he'd rather shoot but there aren't many people in the league that would rather pass than shoot, maybe Nash and after that you can't name a lot. I think the problem will come when Melo comes back, in my opinion he's more of a ball hog than Iverson.
