Ashland Blazer 76 Paul L Dunbar 64

Recommended Posts

This has proved to have been a good weekend for the Ashland Tomcats in Lexington.

The Tomcats took a couple of hard falls last week with back-to-back losses to Covington Catholic and Simon Kenton, but have righted that ship winning 4 in a row including last night’s win over the Number 2 team in the state North Laurel by 20, then again today against Dundar, the team who just last night took down the Number 1 team in the state in Lexington Catholic.

The Tomcats got off to a sluggish start, and didn’t exactly look like the same team that just last night were shooting the lights out against North Laurel while also having trouble with Dunbar’s size who are much bigger than them.

At the end of 1 it was Dunbar with the lead 20-12.

Ashland showed better in the 2nd quarter cutting that 8 point lead to 4 by Halftime with Dunbar up 33-29.

The Tomcats turned up the tempo in the 2nd half which proved to be Dunbar’s undoing, and the Cats ended the 3rd period up 54-49, and kept the foot on the pedal winning by a 12 point margin 76-64.

Sophomore Collin Porter for the Tomcats is a crazy good point guard with an engine that just won’t quit who is already reminding me of Mr. Basketball nominee Ben Johnson of Lexington Catholic, and junior Ethan Sellers is a crazy good 3 point shooter as well.

Porter led all scorers with 30

Sophomore Nick Spalding for Dunbar ended with 27
