Oldham County (1-0) travels to Goshen, KY to tangle with North Oldham (1-0) on Friday 1/22/21 with a lot on the line.  These two teams began the season as the top two ranked teams in the region, and they will first battle with South Oldham for district supremacy.

Oldham is 1-0 in District 29 seeding games after beating South Oldham 59-51 on Saturday.    If the Colonels defeat North, they will take the #1 seed in the three team district and guarantee themselves a spot in the Region 8 tournament, just two games into the season.    The Colonels would have a "bye" in the first round of the district tournament, putting them in the district final game, and therefore, the Region tournament.

North, playing their first district seeding game, can postpone the Colonels' party with a win, and give themselves the inside track for the district #1 seed, pending their game with South Oldham.   A North win over both Oldham and South would give the Mustangs the number one seed, and relegate Oldham and South to what a first round elimination game.

South still retains some hope of nabbing the #1 seed, if North beats Oldham, and South beats North, creating a three-way tie with all three schools standing at 1-1 and forcing a tiebreaker.

North Oldham also opened its season on Friday, defeating former District 29 rival Trimble County, 100-81.   Dallas Roberts, North's prolific sophomore guard, racked up 28 points in the win.   The Mustangs also got 17 points / 9 boards from former Collins player Caleb Hawley, and 16 from Austin "Rico" Carr-Cole.

Per this morning's Courier-Journal, North Oldham turned the ball over a lot in their loss to Jeffersonville.  How did Oldham County look against Highlands?  Haven't seen much on that game other than Oldham was up early.

Both teams suffering early as they are 2 weeks behind everyone else and it shows.

Both have played just 2 games.

#3 Ian Higdon,   6'4" sophomore - returning starter from last year   Mobile big man who strong offensive moves.

#23  Austin Gibson  6'3" senior - transfer from Wisconsin (formerly lived in Oldham County prior to Wisconsin).   Football running back.   

#25 Thomas Ashton 6'3" senior - returning starter    12 assists in the first two games, total

Sixth man:  Caleb Hawley - the Collins transfer started the first two games and likely will start many games this year.  17 points / 9 rebounds against Trimble.

#3 - Deaton Oak, 6'2" senior guard    returning starter, sharpshooter who made 86 threes last year   Led Oldham County in scoring last year at nearly 15 ppg.

#4 - Sam Campbell, 6'2" senior guard   Mr. Clutch.   Ranked in the top 10 in free throw % last season.   returning starter

#10 - Grant Gibson, 5'10" senior point guard    Did not start in 2019-20, but played about half the minutes at PG

#23 - Xander Wagner-Rose, 6'6" senior post    returning starter, averaged nearly 11 ppg last season

#31 - Tyler Slone, 6'5" senior   returning starter, averaging 21 ppg in the first two games (19 vs. South Oldham, 23 vs. Highlands).   Had  a double-double in the last game (vs. Highlands) with 23 points/10 rebounds.

Sixth man:  6'10" junior Hayden Burgess is averaging 5 ppg / 5.5 rebounds off the bench and altering countless shots.
