Lawrence County at Belfry (3A Playoffs) - Belfry Advances Due to Lawrence County Quarantine

Featured Replies

Due to a positive case Lawrence County must quarantine and thus will not be able to play their 2nd Round game.

Hate this for the kids at LC, they have been shut down 3 times in this short season.

Belfry will host a third round game no matter what happens this weekend. They'll face the winner of Rockcastle County/Bell County. The Ashland/Russell winner will host either Fleming County or Pendleton County.

Almost a no-win situation.

Lawrence County's Seniors do not get a chance to finish their season on their terms and the parents now have to realize last Thursday was the last chance they could see their Senior kids play football. You heart goes out to Senior players and parents alike.

Belfry now has essentially five calendar weeks of not having competition on the other side of the ball that could compete in the Front 7. Magoffin did some really nice things with their passing game, but let's be honest here, the Hornets were way below sub par up front on both sides of the ball and not a very good tackling team.

With the advancement, Belfry has now reached the Regional Finals in 19 of the past 20 seasons.

Since 2000, Belfry has only fell short of the Regional Finals twice (00 losing to Breathitt County and 09 losing to Sheldon Clark).

Is this the first district championship game to be cancelled.

Yes. I wouldn't hold my breath that it'll be the last, though.
