Owensboro crosses county line to tangle with surging Hendo

One of the state's most intriguing inter-class matchups this week pits Henderson County, winners of four straight, against unbeaten Owensboro. The Colonels have a burst of momentum at their back after defeating then #6 McCracken County last week. That win should propel them into the 6A top 10.

The same defense that shined against the Mustangs will be put to the test by an Owensboro offense that's reached the 40 point mark in six of its seven games this season, including Friday's drubbing of Grayson County.

This has been a streaky rivalry over the years. Henderson County won five in a row from 2010-2014 before losing the last five to the Red Devils. Gavin Wimsatt's legs saved the day last year, as Owensboro edged Hendo 22-16. This game is the biggest threat to a potential unbeaten regular season for the Red Devils.

I want Henderson County to win just to move Owensboro down in the RPI in 5A. Of course I have given up on trying to understand the RPI for this year anyways.

This game was cancelled sometime last week. Owensboro too good offensively for Hendo and I wish it was played always a good tune up for playoffs. O has won the last 5 meetings.

McCracken is a 1-trick pony with Bradley, while Owensboro has threats all over the field and a diverse offense.  I thought Hendo would beat McCracken by being able to stop run.

Owensboro will play Breck County this Friday.

Thanks. This is beyond frustrating.

Owensboro and Breckinridge is such a mismatch, we might just throw up an update thread on Friday night for that one. I was really looking forward to O/Hendo. That was a great RPI opportunity for Owensboro down the drain now.

Would be nice if teams would update games on KHSAA website because still shows game on there.

Breck is a district game (They hate having to play it too), they just moved it up a week.  Hendo/Owensboro has been played almost every year since the 50s and a good rivalry game.  I was really looking forward to it as well.  Check out @OHSsports on Twitter for the cancellation.
