Class 1A Defending Champion Pikeville will have their title reign tested right off the bat as they travel to Raceland as the non-district small school rivals meet once more in what has become one of the most competitive series in the State.

The Panthers were an unstoppable force once November rolled around, but the Panthers have major losses to graduation they must address at key positions. What Pikeville does return is standout underclassmen QB Isaac McNamee who will be one of the top prospects in Kentucky before his tenure is up. McNamee had a breakout year in his Sophomore campaign.

Raceland played Pikeville as well as any team in Class 1A when they meet early in the season in 2019. Pikeville ultimately held on to a 12-6 victory, but respect was earned. These teams have met the past three seasons, Pikeville has won 2 of those 3 meetings.

 

Great QB duel on deck here with McNamee and Heighton. McNamee probably has more around him, so I'm going with the Panthers to win, but this is a great Week 1 contest for each team.
