Kasey Clark

The two best LB's I saw all year were JT Forrest of Raceland and Michael Tackett of Johnson Central. Fields Davis and Blake Johnson were tied for a close 3rd. I would have to believe based on what I've seen is that JT Forrest is the best LB this side of Lexington. This is just personal opinion. To have been left off the all-state team or honorable mention list is just a complete injustice to this kid. I also believe the Wills kid from Russell deserved to be there somewhere also.

Back to the thread, congrats to Kasey and all those from the area that made the team. Hopefully we will have a better representation of area kids on the Louisville Courier Journal Coaches All State Team which comes out around Christmas and is voted on by the coaches and not the media. I believe this All State team is a better representation of young men who deserve all-state recognition because it is voted on by the state coaches. The AP All-State team is more of a "my boy" All State team which is dictated by the local media pushing "their" kids. This sometimes leaves very deserving young men off the list, like Forrest and Wills. Larger metro areas and newspapers have more of an influence on the AP All State team. The Courier Journal's All State team is purely a result or opinion of the state's coaches who have "SEEN" some of these young men play. I would like to see several more area players on the Courier Journal All State Team, like Fields Davis, JT Forrest, Scott Grizzle, Clinton Thompson, Matt Thomas, Ian Welch, and Joey White.

:thumb: and thank you 3 high. Imo,this is a very good post and very true. Kids at NEKY schools are constantly overlooked for some reason and have been for as long as I can remember. With me being a Raceland fan I can only comment my feelings on some Raceland players that I feel were overlooked or "snubbed" not having seen others in our area a lot. Raceland football this past season had J.T. Forest, S. Grizzle, C. Thompson and D. Beach and C. Caldwell that should had deserved consideration or mention. I defy anyone to name a better LB than J.T. Forrest! Forget me, just ask the teams that played against him. S. Grizzle put up some very impressive numbers at QB and imo was also deserving along with C. Thompson and his line play. D. Beach was excellent as areturn man on special teams and as a reciever and D-Back. C. Caldwell at Defensive end also caused many opposing offense problems with his play on "D". These are just a few of kids that I feel deserved mention. Forrest, Grizzle and Thompson imo deserved some serious consideration for first team all state. JMO. Raceland isn't the only school in this area that had players "snubbed", I just mentioned the ones that I am most familiar with. thank you once again 3 high for bringing this up.:thumb: :thumb:

Congratulation to Russell's Kasey Clark on being selected to the All-State first-team defense as a DB. Job well done Kasey and I wish you the best at the next level.:thumb:

:thumb: :thumb: I 100% agree, all the luck to Kasey from this Old Rambler:dancingpa . I am sure we will hear but I hope someone keeps us informed on Kasey and any college schollys and where.

:thumb::thumb: Great post 3high. Your statement is 100% correct. These kids have worked their tails off and are great football players and even greater people, it is a shame to not recognize them for their effort. I hope they stay focused in the classroom and keep a positive attitude. The kids you mentioned have an excellent chance to play at the next level and that would be the greatest award.

:thumb: Great post, I personally know of some kids that got "overlooked" lets just say and kept that positive attitude and work ethic and they are playing at the next level now. Good things happen to good people. In the words of the late, great Jim Valvano................."Don't give up, Don't ever give up"! ;) Best of luck to all kids that want to play at the next level, keep working for your goal and don't let ANYONE tell you that you can't do it.

As someone mentioned in an earlier post it is hard to say what player is better than others. There are always kids that are left off the All-State teams, All-Area Teams, and All-Star Teams that are deserving to be named to the team. IMO J.T. Forrest is one of those that should have been named but was not. I hope that JT keeps positive and doesn't allow the non selection to keep him from moving to the next level. When a college coach sees him play he could care less if he is a member of the All-State team or not. What he will know is that this kid is a football player and whoever gets him will have one of the most dedicated kids in the program. I know several who were not selected to All-Star teams that went on to play college ball had a nice career and gained a quality education so all is not lost for the kids that were not selected.

I completely agree!:thumb:

Congrats to Kasey. IMO, Grizzle and Forrest also deserved the honors.

I agee 100%. Congrads Clark on a great season!! Good luck in the future.

Congrads to Kasey. I also agree with the J. T. vote. Its a shame. They really should go with the facts. J. T. played unbelievable games. When you get hit by Forrest you know you have been hit. Grizzle made some great playes. Thompson has the most tackles this season along with three touchdowns as a lineman and Caldwells blocks and D were great. I am prejudice but cant we get a break for our boys.

Needed to edit that and put sacks and not tackles. I didnt want to mis-quote something that information had come from a coach.

Wills, Tackett, Johnson, Davis

How did this turn into a complain that my guy didn't make it thread anyway?

It didnt. We wanted to congradulate Kasey due to most on this thread know him personally and have watched him play. His brother is a teacher and coach at Raceland. We also agree that if some of the ones you named would not have made it you would be wondering why. In addition if you read the thread most was for encouragement to the boys to keep their head up and keep working hard that they will be rewarded in different ways. We are just saying how proud we are of some of the boys and that in our hearts they did make it.

I agree I think all these players were just as good if not better than Forrest. I'm not trying to dogg Forrest because he is a heck of a player. I think all of these guys should have made it, or at least got honorable mention. :thumb:

I just didn't agree with some of the Raceland fans dogging some of the players from the Eastern part of the state just because their guys didn't make it.

Good post!:thumb:

All of my family is from Ashland. I have umpired and coached different things at Ashland for years. I know you are a die hard Ashland fan. We are not trying to dog Ashland. I have always supported Ashland. We just think the media needs to take a look at some outstanding players for this year. I will not go on record and say someone didnt deserve it. I think from Ashland maybe Matt Thomas should have got a look and he didnt. If no one got it from Ashland and Ashland had an outstanding record and District Champs would you not be a tad bit dissappointed. I think you would because i have looked at some of your posts and you defend Ashland to the end. Thats all the Raceland Fans are doing is defending some players that should have been looked at.

Looking back at our threads we have supported all our opposing teams and players except of course when we are playing them. We have prayed for their safety and a good game. Being involved at a big school and then watching a smaller school i have seen first hand how a small school has to fight to get attention for its players. I apologize for any Ram fan that you thought was dogging the players. I know in my heart all statements are just out of dissappointment that not one player was even looked at. It was certainly not meant to take away from a player that did.

Wills made honorable mention on the OL. Johnson and Tackett were both honorable mention. Davis didn't even get honorable mention. I don't think any justice was done for these four.
