Was infamous KY Derby DQ Maximum Security a doped horse?

Featured Replies

Certainly appears so. His trainer, Jason Servis, is one of 27 trainers named in a federal indictment for allegedly doping with a designer drug "SGF-1000" which was created with the specific intent of being untraceable by drug testing.

Per THIS article, "The indictment reads in part Servis administered performance enhancing drugs to virtually all horses under his care since February 2018. “Virtually all” is powerful language for an indictment and would obviously include Maximum Security who crossed the finish line first in the 2019 Kentucky Derby. The horse was subsequently disqualified for bearing out, but that has nothing to do with performance enhancing drugs."

Jason Servis is currently assumed out of the country with Maximum Security, who just won the inaugural Saudi Cup on February 29th. The Saudi Cup is a race created to have the largest purse in the world, at $20 Million.

You can read the full indictment HERE.

Pretty elaborate scheme. Be interesting to see how they prove it.

Heard Maximum Security is now being trained by Bob Baffert.
