I saw where some people were choosing Gallatin to make some noise this year in the 8th region. I always assumed that was a stretch and this score proves it. I am not trying to knock the Wildcats but I think some of their fans were putting unrealistic expecations on them. Losing to Henry County, even on a real BAD night, is something that Simon Kenton and Shelby County would never have done.

I'd put GC's schedule up against anybody around here. I called this outcome two days ago. Henry is no push over, heck they played the mighty Bearcats of WV to 6-8 at Walton.

I agree.. Henry is definitely not a push over! WV and GC are two very good teams.. Henry is very hard nosed and gave them both a hard fight.

I don't mean to bash Gallatin but calling Henry a strong team is a big stretch. I will say that Gallatin may be able to win the 8th region All A tournament but there chances of winning the real deal is slim to none. I would have to agree that among the smaller schools they may very well be a target team but when you place them in the larger 8th region picture their star begins to fade. At the onset of the season I was going to be an interested observer at the Gallatin-Shelby game. I heard the talk that Gallatin could make a run this year and they were confident enough to schedule the defending regional champs for a home game. That being said: an eight point loss to Henry, no matter the circumstances or point in the season, doesn't point to a team ready to make a run in the 8th region.

I don't know what happened at the Henry Co game, but the game that I saw Gallatin play, they very much looked like they could make some noise in the region, especially if they ever get Edmonson eligible. With that being said I absolutely could not believe that they lost to Henry Co (no offense to HC). They must be a "Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde" type team. If that's the case, they could lose in their district opener or be in the regional finals - depends on who shows up.

Grant is not an "A" school. Walton-Verona might be an average basketball team.

I needed a few days to think about this game before posting any comments. When the head coach and sons lose a family member the day of the Williamstown game and continue to coach and play, and then come to play away at Henry County the day after the services, My heart goes out to them. I feel this had an impact on both games and you could see it in the coaching and playing of the team.

This being said, the same five players have started every game so far this year, with three hard nose players chopping at the bit to get their starting spots back from last year. When the coach, at practice, calls out for the top five, 9 players should walk out on the court. Perkins,Giles,Davis,Henson,Brown,Carrolton,Mattox,Jones,Jones. IMO, starting different players, depending on who we play, each game, will continue to keep all the players working hard to get a starting spot. Isn't this every coach's dream. I believe gallatin will come back strong from this loss and every player and coach will work hard to make it happen. GO! Wildcats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hadn't heard that the Jones' had experienced a loss in the family. My condolences.

 

This could explain a lot. Hopefully they will be able to recover before playing two district games this week - Owen and Carroll.
