Seems strange to me that two teams of that caliber in the same region don't play each during the regular season. I know the size of the schools is way different, but Anderson is clearly good enough to compete with SK. Is there something I'm missing?

Are you asking if there's a "history" to their no history?

 

~ 100 miles between two county schools is a bit of a drive, even for two quality opponents. It takes two to tango too, in regards to scheduling. They have met only once (2008, an SK win) in the regular season since SK moved to the 8th in 2005/06.

 

Overall, in the last five years, SK is playing 1/2 to 2/3 fewer games in the 8th than they used to. I think they are fortunate to have a concentration of good competition closer to home in the 9th and the northern end of the 10th.

 

This is only the second time they've met in the first round. The Lady Pioneers are 9-3 in the postseason vs Anderson. 4-3 in Region finals, 3-0 in semifinals and 1-0 in first round games.

 

I'm anxious to see how this plays out. As others have noted, this may be the best opening round game in the state.

Thanks. SK always seemed to be way out on the fringe when they were in the 9th, but still that only meant a 20-30 minute drive to us. I was just curious. Carry on.
