Randy Parker Posted January 11, 2020 Posted January 11, 2020 (10th Region Class A Quarterfinals) Final from Mt. Olivet per Evan Dennison.
B-Ball-fan Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 What? :idunno: Wait... is this the same Bishop Brossart that’s rated 3rd in the 10th, and the favorite to win their region’s All A, and the same Calvary Christian that’s rated 13th? Not much in life makes much sense anymore, but this sorta puts an exclamation point on that. And they had to do it in OT of all things. I know what the Mustangs are doing after Sunday Mass tomorrow morning, and I don’t think that their prayers are going to be enough after Coach Code gets in their heads.
BossHog11 Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Good Teams find a way to win.... Not sure where they found it tonight.
Mustang Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 (edited) Giving credit where due, Calvary Christian played a whale of a ballgame, and caused us problems for 36 minutes. With .5 seconds on the clock, the Cougars were up one. Ethan Eilerman hit one of two free-throws to knot it up at 46, when Calvay threw the ball out of bounds without being touched, giving the Mustangs one last shot to win in on an inbounds play. The play was executed to perfection, but we simply missed the shot, forcing overtime. In OT we were able to outscore the Cougars, who had key players fouled out, 10-5 to advance. Eilerman led all scroers with 27 points, and Stephen Verst added 13 for the Mustangs, while Josh Moran, who was named to the All-Tournament team led the Cougars with 17. Noah Herald put up 16 and Cross Dugan 11. If history is kind enough to repeat itself, following a district seeding loss to Calvary a year ago, our Mustangs played their very best basketball of the year for the remainder of the season. Do you know whatever became of Mason Rusch for Calvary? From what I recall he was a sensational player who was a junior last season, but I don't see him on the roster this year.

Just found info that says Mason Rusch is playing his senior year for Clayton High School in North Carolina.
Mustang Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Mason Rusch was an outstanding junior (and great kid) at Calvary last season, averaging 26ppg. His family moved to the Carolinas for a job opportunity. Mason now plays at Clayton High School in Clayton, N.C...
