December 4, 200619 yr And my comment was to the fact it will not be a MAC coach if he's not the right choice. The search is starting out well, and it seems to have been in motion for longer than most think. So much for not hiring a MAC guy. So this is the guy they've been after for the past few months??
December 4, 200619 yr Author So much for not hiring a MAC guy. So this is the guy they've been after for the past few months?? Honestly, I knew very little about this guy before tonight. He was in the mix for the Michigan State, Iowa State and NC State jobs. He's also a proven winner. That isn't the case for the coaches in question in that post. Toledo Tom and the Akron Coach were far from qualified for this job...
December 4, 200619 yr That's why I asked if you thought he was their "secret" candidate and the object of their search or if maybe he contacted UC when his stock was really high.
December 4, 200619 yr Author That's why I asked if you thought he was their "secret" candidate and the object of their search or if maybe he contacted UC when his stock was really high. I'll know more on that tomorrow. The search included interviews with a Cincinnati guy at ECU, one of two coordinators at LSU and a Bengals WR Coach that was the OC at USC and recruited Carson and Matty. Not bad...
December 4, 200619 yr Sounds like a good hire based on what he did at CMU. I just hope he doesn't have skeletons in the closet which is why he's on the fast track out of town.
December 4, 200619 yr Came away impressed with his offense vs UK, didn't know he was the former coach of GVState, they were an offensive machine for a few years under his command. I agree GT, I think he will bring a wide open offense but he'll need a good DC if he expects success against the likes of UL/WVU/Pitt and Rutgers.

December 5, 200619 yr Author Rich Brooks STILL owns him. :sssh: What about Archer? I think that conversation we had earlier is going to change big time if he does what is now expected. Maybe a home and home???
December 5, 200619 yr What about Archer? I think that conversation we had earlier is going to change big time if he does what is now expected. Maybe a home and home??? Remind tomorrow via e-mail to forward you Rob Mullens' thoughts when I asked him about that exact issue. I hope he is great for UC, keeps recruiting Kentucky, and can convince 20,000 adults out of 1.4 million to come to a game once a week.
