I want Dalton to keep looking good, but for the Jets to win. I want Dalton to look good the rest of the year but, the Bengals still end up with the top pick. Try to increase Daltons trade value.

 

What will happen is Dalton is going to play good and make people want to keep him. Forgetting that this is Dalton and 9 years of data back it up that it is not sustainable. He has stretches where he can play great, but then stretches where he is horrible.

 

No matter how well he plays it is time to move on after this season. People need to understand, if we keep him or sign him to a new contract after next season. He will be asking between 20 to 30 million a year. To build this team back up, you need a good qb that is on a rookie contract for 5 seasons.

That's what I figured and is why I asked about the Bengals lead above. It will be very disappointing if they don't win this one. When NFL teams have 10 point leads in the second half, the team in the lead wins, especially at home.

I believe it was 2008 when it was Mike Zimmers first year as DC here. That was the year Palmer missed basically all year because of his elbow injury. Towards the end of that season the defense really started playing well after being terrible the previous few years. They then went on to being a top 10 defense for 4 of the next 5 seasons. Hopefully that is what we are seeing here. The defense the last 3 weeks has been much better.

Bengals have crawled into the Marvin Lewis ultra conservative, try not to lose mode. I hope it doesn't backfire. They are putting a lot of pressure on a defense that is statistically one of the worst in the NFL. One TD and 2 point conversion and it is a one score game.

Without a doubt, Bengs have been tighter in pass coverage today than any other game this year.
