November 12, 20196 yr I don't think the draft has been kind to Taylor. Some of it is no fault of his own, but the rest...? I've got no problem with taking Williams #1. Tackle was a MUST position that had to be addressed. It sucks that he hasn't seen the field due to injury. But, looking at Sample at #2...what the heck were they thinking? I understand that Eifert seems to be made out of glass sometimes, and may not even be here very much longer anyway...but, up until the Rams game, it didn't even look like the TE was a part of Taylor's offense. Why spend a 2nd round pick on it then? Pratt in the 3rd round hasn't been able to sniff the field until the last game or so...and our linebacker play has been horrible. So, as someone pointed out in another thread...what's this say about Pratt? Round 4 we take Finley, presumably to be Dalton's backup and then perhaps take over in a couple of years. Now it looks like we've got just 8 games to evaluate him and decide whether or not to use an even higher draft pick to get yet another QB for next year. Round 4 also saw them take Renell Wren. I have to be honest, when I went back to see who all was taken, when I got to this guy, I had to say "who?". He's got 3 tackles through 9 games. And Michael Jordan also came out of the 4th round. Again, it stinks that he got hurt. Can't blame Taylor for that one. Now, what would Marvin have done differently? I have no clue. There were years where his picks didn't pan out as well, so there's no guarantee it would've been any better.

So these OSU lineman they drafted have failed the Bengals.

November 13, 20196 yr Either way, there's nothing to "show" for that draft pick. Well I agree. The Bengals have drafted very bad for the last 3 to 4 years. With most of those years being under Marvin, and now this year under Taylor. There is one common denominator though and that is Duke Tobin. He got a lot of credit for putting the team together from 2011 to 2015 with those drafts. However, safe to say he hasn't done as well since then.
