If you're an Ashland fan, you almost couldn't ask for a better start to this game. They completely caught Russell off guard. If this were a boxing match, Ashland staggered Russell badly in the early rounds.

 

I feel like Russell loaded the box in the district game then they got burnt on the td pass. I'm not there tonight but I feel like Russell is hesitant about loading the box now, which gives Hester and Pittman room to work, which is why Ashland is having their way tonight. Russell needs to load the box back up and dare Ashland to pass, otherwise Ashlands speed is gonna beat them. You can only hold that in check for so long.

Ashland is much improved tonight, up front, on defense. Russell hasn't found much running room. Meanwhile, Pittman and Hester look good, as does the entire Ashland offense, really.

Russell is going to have to continue to pass to open up the run.

I agree, Russell's got to do something, but Gregg has shown he can hurt you if you load the box. I'm impressed with his development as the season has progressed. It's a huge advantage for Ashland if they can be multidimensional on offense.
