South Oldham is on a ten game winning streak, after dropping the season opener Christian Academy of Louisville. The Dragons defeated North Oldham three weeks ago in convincing fashion - 44-10. Can the Dragons duplicate that performance in round two?

North Bullitt defeated Jeffersontown in round one without much difficulty. Can the Eagles continue their playoff win streak by avenging their earlier loss to South Oldham?

LOL...that was North Bullitt South Oldham played three weeks ago...not North Oldham... :lol2:

I don't know much about North Bullitt this year and would love to get some feedback from the BGPreps crowd. The Eagles are certainly putting up the points, averaging 37 ppg during what has been a solid year. After last week's rout of Jeffersontown in the first round of the playoffs, North stands at 7-4 on the season.

The Eagles win with their running game, and junior RB Cole Durbin has put up monster numbers this year, rushing 150 times for a whopping 1,722 yards and 29 TDs. He's averaging over 150 yards rushing / game. For those keeping score at home, that's an average of over 11 yards per carry...

In fact, Durbin has scored more TDs than the rest of the North Bullitt team. He also has 2 TDs receiving, giving him 31 total. The rest of the Eagles have combined for 16 rushing TDs and 11 receiving TDs, for a total of 27....

We'll be watching John Ashbaugh, a junior linebacker, on defense. Ashbaugh leads the Eagles in total tackles with 65.

South Oldham comes into the game riding a ten game winning streak and ranked #5 in class 5A. The Dragons wrapped up the regular season with an exclamation point, throttling Class 6A Central Hardin - ranked #6 at the time - 43-7. Last week, South Oldham got stiffer competition than perhaps expected from Atherton in the first half of their playoff contest, but the Dragons pulled away in the second half to win, 43-6.

Like North, South Oldham likes to run the ball. They don't feature a single star back like North Bullitt, but rather hammer the opposition with multiple backs, all of which would likely have well over 1,000 yards rushing in a single-back scheme.

The Dragons average about 253 yards rushing per contest, led by senior fullback Keaton Martin, who has rushed for 1,010 yards and 19 TDs. Martin, who broke into the lineup as a freshman, keeps updating the South record books; he passed Donnell Gordon's school record for career TDs earlier this year and keeps building on the new mark.

JT Benson, a senior wingback, may well be the best athlete on the team. He's rushed for 572 yards and 8 TDs - on only 26 carries. In perhaps one of the most amazing stats of the year, he's averaging 22 yards per carry. In keeping with his big-play ability, he also has 277 yards receiving and 3 TDs - on just 8 catches.

QB Anthony Pierce is perhaps the most overlooked weapon in coach Jamie Reed's arsenal. The South signalcaller has completed 50 of 72 passes for 1,070 yards, 16 TDs - and only one interception. He's also adept at using his legs to gain yards, and has rushed for 298 yards and 5 TDs. His favorite target is Ethan Bednarczyk, who has caught 28 passes for 593 yards and 11 TDs.

Seniors Luke Clark (DE) and Tyrell Love (DL) have played havoc with opposing offenses this year. Clark has 75 total tackles and Love 62, but the two have been particularly adept at putting the offense in a hole. Clark has 23 TFL and 8 sacks on the year; Love has 15 TFL.

Turnovers may be critical in this game, as the South defense is a ball-hawking unit. South has 10 fumble recoveries on the season, but has particularly excelled at interceptions. The Dragons have picked off 20 passes this season, returning 5 for touchdowns. Most impressively, those 20 passes have been snagged by 9 different defensive players.

South won the regular season matchup on 10/11/19, 44-10. The Dragons rushed for 311 yards and 5 TDs in that game, led by Martin's 118 yards and three scores. North was held to just 167 yards of total offense; Durbin had most of that, rushing for 101 yards and a TD. But the North Bullitt passing game was AWOL that night, completing just 3 of 15 passes for 33 yards, 0 TDs, and 2 INT.

Who wins the rematch?

SOHS has too many threats in K-Mart, JT, and Ethan. These 3 along with Pierce will lead the Dragons deep into the playoffs. This game won’t even be close. Good luck.

North Bullitt has had a good season but they're just not up to snuff with the South Oldham, as we saw a month back. We might see a little closer of a score with the Eagles playing with a little more sense of inspiration and urgency due to end of season implications, but I think this one goes to the Dragons by 3 or 4 touchdowns.

South Oldham is up 7 to 0.
