Newport Central Catholic has finally creeped up the BluegrassPreps 1A Top 10 to the the #3 spot. Next week they could possibly be higher depending on the results from this weeks slate of games. Do you think they are finally where they belong? Or Do you think they should be higher? Or Should they be lower?

I think they have been underrated this season but it may be Pikeville and then everyone else in 1A this year.

With so much praise being bestowed upon Pikeville, and the other 1A stalwarts - Raceland, Paintsville, Hazard, Williamsburg - still in contention, NCC seemed to get lost in the shuffle of this class. Plus, they were a game under .500 from '16-'18. I think the program had become stagnant. Nothing about their first few games this season begged our respect, but that victory over top 10 ranked Newport definitely should have turned some heads. They'll surely rock Bellevue tomorrow, and then their measuring stick game against Beechwood should key us in a little more as to what our postseason expectations for them should be. Right now, #3 feels about right.

 

The 'Breds should probably never be overlooked, but especially when competing at the 1A level.

Their schedule will always make them a .500 team unless they have that one or two great seasons. They will be a tough out come quarterfinals and beyond.
