Both teams come in at 6-2. Who gets the win?

I’d love to see the Raiders pull it off. I just don’t think they quite there yet. However Russell is going to have to come and play. I don’t think they can overlook the Raiders.

I personally Don't see the Russell coaches letting them overlook anyone. I think that East Carter has Russell's attention.

East Carter has some players, namely QB Braden Hicks and all-purpose guy Micah Adams. This is easily the best Raiders team that Russell has seen in ages.

 

A loss like last week's can be hard to shake off, but that's exactly what the Devils must do. Nothing matters this week except the challenge in front of them. This isn't your dad's East Carter.

 

East struggled to run the ball last week against Greenup. I'm not sure they can be one dimensional and pull off the upset on the hill. For their part, Russell will do what they do - try to maul East at the point of attack and run it down their throats with a healthy dose of Conley and Anderson, with the occasional Jachimczuk keeper. Mixing in some shots down field like they did against Greenup would be a welcome sight. There was none of that last week.

Needless to say, East will need to play their best game of the season. They’ve proven to be a second half team numerous times (West Carter, Fleming Co, Greenup Co), so if they can keep close to Russell till halftime, they’ll have a chance. The problem with that philosophy is, Russell isn’t a team you can fall behind to, and play catch up with. If they get moment, The Raiders will suffer their first running clock of the season. But, this isn’t “that” East Carter. I’m the eternal optimist.

Just a fyi the Greenup/Russell game was 42-0 at the half. Russell started getting younger players in the 3rd. That night with the way Russell was moving the ball they could have scored 65 or 70 with all starters in.

I like Russell by a score of 38-10 in this game.

Not to take away from what you said, Russell probably could have hung 60+ on GC. But Russell didn't start playing solely jv and freshman until about the 6 minute mark in the 4th. They did go quite conservative on offense the entire second half though.

I watched it on mytowntv so I probably misread numbers. I thought I seen a few younger players get in, in the 3rd mixed with some starters.

There may have been a few, but the bulk of the varsity played until mid 4th quarter. Around the 6 minute mark TJ started alternating JV and freshman platoons in.
