These happened in Beechwood's game last night against Dixie Heights.

 

1. Two times Dixie broke their huddle with 12 men. As the players broke from the huddle to their positions, one of their players jogged from the huddle to the Dixie sideline. Isn't it a penalty to break the huddle with 12 men?

 

2. First and 15 for Dixie. They run a play around left end for about a 7 yard gain. Holding is called on Dixie 5 yards down from the original line of scrimmage. Beechwood is called for a personal foul. The official steps off the holding from the spot of the foul, then steps off the personal foul against Beechwood. End result is first and 5 for Dixie. The official did not signal dead ball foul on the personal foul. Where did the official make the mistake? Should he have signalled it as a dead ball personal foul?

 

3. Reception in end zone corner. The receiver clearly came down with one foot in bounds and even looked from my far away view to get two feet in bounds. The side judge ruled him out of bounds. Don't you only need one foot in bounds for a legal reception in high school?

I'm no but from what I know,

 

1. Yes, if you break the huddle with 12 it is a penalty.

 

2. If the Personal foul was not a dead ball then it should have been off setting and replay the down.

 

3. In high school all you need is one foot.

It’s not illegal to break the huddle with 12. The rule is something along the lines of players substituting are to do so in a timely manner and not to cause deception. It is a judgement call by the officials. It is common to see the flag thrown in the described scenario.

1. I noticed this too. It looked like 3 receivers going out wide only for 1 to continue out of bounds.

 

2. The personal foul was a dead ball foul. So they marked it off correctly.

 

3. Official just missed it. In the video, it’s hard to tell, but the official doesn’t even appear to be looking at the receiver.

Same game (Beechwood/Dixie) 4th quarter. Dixie ran a QB keep up the middle. #26 from Beechwood put a really good hit on the QB after about a 7 yard gain. He then proceeds to stand over the QB for 3-4 seconds staring down at him. No flag thrown. Is it against the rules to do that? I was under the impression it was a personal foul. happened on a key drive in the game.
